I got 2 flights for £400 leaving 2 weeks later. Got a hotel sorted for a couple of nights on Orlando and then want to head for the coast. Any recommendations for hotels around St Petes, Clearwater or Sarasota would be appreciated.
Also, random question, but does anyone know if I'll be able to find Ugg mules/sandals easily in Orlando?

Take a look on tripadvisor, there are some great reviews in that area - I will be staying there late Sept.

Can anybody suggest the best payg mobile to buy in the USA for a 2 week holiday. I think some come with credit included. If that is correct, are these the best to buy?

Please help as I go on Thursday & don't want to use my O2 payg because it is too expensive.

    Many thanks.

It's been suggested loads of times on this thread but it's so huge now it's probably lost!!! To keep in contact at the parks and even the hotel complex get yourself some walkie talkies. You can buy over here or there in places like Walmart.

Sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the walkie talkies sold here (PMR 446) are illegal to use in the US as they fall within an amateur band - their equivalent (FMR) uses different frequencies.

We got 2 tracphones from Walmart at easter - approx $15 each and $19 for a phonecard for each one.
I think they were the best buy of the trip (my sister who was with me lives in Spain so our mobiles were routed through different countries - it would have cost a fortune otherwise.)
The phonecards were virtually impossible to use up in 2 weeks - texts were approx 2c and international and national calls were 5c a minute-really cheap. Great reception in all the parks and calling the UK and Spain.
They need topping up every 3 months (I think) but as we plan to go to the US again next easter I'm lending them out to family and friends who are going out and ask that they just keep them topped up for me before they leave.

    Have a good trip!

    Hi,

Can anyone give me an idea how much spending money to take with us (2 adults 25yrs) - board basis is room only - Thomas Cook deal is really good but kinda hoping not to spend £1000 out there - any tips on what a realistic amount to spend will be would be very welcome!

Haven't bought any tickets to theme parks yet because it seems they would be cheaper to buy when we get there, so this would have to be included in budget. Will be doing some shopping as well, suddenly £1000 between us doesn't seem so much...

    Thanks!

    - less than 3 wks to go... :j :j

in 2003 we spent £150 a day between 2 of us.

Thats food, fags, beer, wine, park tickets, parking at the parks ($12 a day) everything.

But were ace at spending money :)

 We didn't get arrested. I think we were on the same band as Americans as we would pick them up too.

Yes the fact that you could also pick up the locals on their amateur band shows you would also be interfering with their transmissions!

Be warned they DO take non approved radio transmitters VERY SERIOUSLY if they are found in your luggage. US immigration have been known to turn very nasty and even deny entry for attempted importation of prohibited goods.

Bearing in mind the heightened security paranoia are you willing to take the risk?
Why not just buy from walmart when you get there?
Fiscally responsible or just a tight git? :
