Cheerio all!
Christine
Just in case anyone is interested - Fort Myers has recently had a big expansion and will hopefully, shortly be taking flights directly from the UK (that'll please you Christine :j :j ).
The UA offer sounds like a cracker by the way.:D
MTC
p.s. 2 hours for immigration / changeover sounds ok. I'm allowing 1 1/2 hours for Boston.
p.p.s I hope that your not double booked. I've got 45 Hells Angels coming over with me who'll be really pigged off :rotfl:0 -

Ohhh goodie, party time.
Want some more good news? I am going to be over there too. Flying out on the 9 Nov until the 29 Dec. I am going to work in the other villa tho - fancy getting your 45 hell's angels to come help me decorate?? Hmmm, guess not huh. Just keep the !!!!!!'s out of that canal, the gator's are partial to a bit of human meat as the landscape gardener discovered when he did his weekly, and final, jump into one of the canals last year straight into the waiting jaws of a big boy of a gator. Had to shoot it twice to get him out. Anybody want to buy a landscaping biz in Cape Coral - reckon it might be going cheap!
Tarrah Murph, see you in November.

To rent a car in Florida, I would recommend Enterprise. They have a lot of locations and they would even pickup you up for free at the airport.
But one thing important if you want to save money: make sure you take all your insurance information with you. You may want to contact them here in UK before you leave see if they would cover a rental car in the US. Bring a letter or something otherwise the rental company will force you to take their insurance, it could double the daily price...
Hope this helps0 -

Sandford Florida just got back went with TCD which as others have said is ok the plane was jumbo jet we had good seats by the door so extra leg room, meals were basic but ideal for grown ups and kids alike, free soft drinks etc so overall ok.Hire cars very clean and full tank of petrol.Easy to collect as Dollar straight by arrivals hall.
Return not so good plane unable to land at Gatwick( Fog) diverted to Cardiff for re fuel then back to Gatwick extra 3 hours flying time.
Staff more than pleasent all very helpful and tried hard to please everyone which wasnt easy after such a long time but marks out of ten would have to be at least 8, not as good as B>A> or Virgin but you get what you pay for.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0 -

Hi zolablue25
these people are VERY competitive for a luxury class car, but I don't know how good they are with smaller ones.

Hi Zola,
I have found https://www.carhire3000.com to be quite good at the moment - also https://www.holidayautos.co.uk are coming in good. Trouble is as they change their prices almost daily it can change in the blink of an eye and what seemed a good price whilst writing this may actually be a high price by the time you look at their sites!
I am trolling around trying to find cheap car hire, without the insurances, having spoken to https://www.insurance4carhire.com today. They advised me that their policy of £119 for a one year cover is fully comprehensive and no other insurance is required. Apparently their cover also includes wheels, tyres, windscreen and other damage that the CDW excess does not cover from the likes of other well known companies. Holiday Autos give the option to take the Excess Damage Waiver with them but again it does not cover wheels, tyres, windscreens etc just the excess should you have a hefty accident - the scary thing is, having read other's remarks, just how high that excess can be. Because of this their price is a good £100 cheaper than the other rental companies and if you travel more than once a year it may make better sense to get the insurance4carhire cover for the year. This article in The Times http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,18409-2141946_1,00.html about aiming to get the car hire companies to clean up their act was a real eye opener and I think everybody planning on renting a vehicle should read this. One chap on there was charged for damage and when he argued and pushed the point to the degree that the hire company checked previous records he discovered the damage had been previously charged, and paid for, by another customer. The company claimed the cars are checked when they arrived back but something like that makes you wonder. As he said how many times had they actually got away with charging people for the same damage.
Ho hum, it's a gamble I suppose.
