Oh well, I'll have to start getting the train to work.

Oh hang on, that costs £25 a week for a 10 mile journey each way, driving is still cheaper. If public transport costs and petrol costs had an inverse relationship I might not complain so much, but it's more a case of petrol prices go up, so they think it's safe to put public transport costs up too.

Maybe we'd all be better off quitting our jobs to stop paying Labours 'having the cheek to travel to work tax' and just living off the land in our back gardens. Not that Labour have made it possible for me to afford a place with a garden either.

Current situation where I am, Asda in Wishaw 111.9 for petrol & diesel. The Shell that is literally round the corner (less than 100 yards away) 113.9 for both. Jet station less than a half mile away, 111.9 and 113.9 petrol and diesel. Shell before Garrion Bridge, 116.9 for diesel. Esso in Stonehouse 114.9 for both, a 1p rise on 2 consecutive days. Shell in Larkhall, 113.9 for diesel. Still waiting to see anyone explain the differences in price at so many stores in such a relatively small area.

you live in either overtown or newmains im guessing.
i know all the stations you mention here and have always found the overtown shell to be the most expensive i think its due to there being no competition for a fair distance. but still doesn't justify the price difference.

even the difference between the jet in motherwell and the jet in hamilton, both owned by parks but the hamilton one is always cheaper than the much buisier motherwell one.

Not quite, Stonehouse. The Overtown garage has always been quite high, as you say, but it always has people buying fuel... Same with the BP on London Road, near Parkhead. Always a good few p more per litre, but always busy...

If everyone voted with their feet -or tyres in this case - the rip-off petrol stations would need to drop their prices.

The people most guilty are the government as around 70p of the cost is TAX, and it will get worse, as all 3 main parties buy into the AGW scam and want us to wear our hair shirts on our 50 mile each way commute by bicycle, to protect the planet, whilst the USA, China, India et.al stick up the finger, saying up yours, and carry on regardless.

See here for more details of the govt rip off:

the shell in stonehouse and larkhall are usually a bit more expensive aswell ive found.
i usually fill up at tesco in wishaw when filling my car,and fill my van wherever im nearest thats the cheapest on work fuel card. i do try to use the cheapest even then.

the most expensive i know of locally is always by far the scottish fuels independant garage on airbles road in motherwell, they are always at least 5p more than any other local garage on both diesel and petrol and their antiquated pumps seems to take a lifetime to fill. i haven't used them for fuel for at least 5 years now,but for some reason they are still busy, i just don't get who uses them.

Local BP and Shell garages all up another penny yesterday 118.9 for diesel. Alistair had better not show his face here in North Wales, he is at severe risk of being culled (he resembles a badger) by the local farmers in case he is carrying bovine TB.
