    When I passed my test in 1972 petrol was 34p a gallon!

    And a vinyl single was 35p and £30 a week was a good wage.
    and there were no speed cameras, and the average family car was flat out at 80, screaming in 4th at 5000 RPM

    As Capstick said when he came home "They don't know they're born today" :-)

    Too true, back when I started work in 1970, I earn't about £10 per week. I would buy probably one vinyl LP per week at £2:eek:

    Thats about the equivalent of £80 for a CD in todays terms:cool:
    I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Might be a start, but we must be careful because that attitude makes us clueless in whatmichaelsays's eyes. There is ample room to cut without affecting services Does the NHS need managers to manage managers and consultants to advise them how to fiddle the stats and tick boxes? the patients becoming an irrelevant nuisance, proof of this in the debacle at Stafford General.
    Not patients, 'customers' remember. I hate this ideology. Trains/buses have passengers, hospitals have patients etc etc.

    To the box tickers, it matters not what they are called, in their book all service users/customers/patients are a nuisance obstructing their attainment of the TARGET.

    You have no idea the lies told in my line of work to achieve targets.
    Theres teams returning 160% productivity and it's not questioned. In a 12 hour shift with 2:15 hours down before you consider other variables, it's obviously lies.

    Diesel is £119.9 around here. To the person who is paying that for Derv then I'd find another garage. Derv is agricultural surely. Do you drive a tractor?

    Not sure you are right there, I thought that DERV stood for;

    Diesel Engine Road Vehicle.

    I always thought that DERV was for road use, I may be wrong.;)
