Bloody Petrol Prices

Local BP and Shell garages all up another penny yesterday 118.9 for diesel. Alistair had better not show his face here in North Wales, he is at severe risk of being culled (he resembles a badger) by the local farmers in case he is carrying bovine TB.
Well George Osborne will certainly not be reducing any taxes, so a bit of a waste of time culling Alistair.0 -
Last time the prices went up we the british public were up in arms.
Where has our fighting spirit gone???.0 -
Again, I notice not one person has highlighted where they would be happy to pay additional tax in exchange for reduced fuel duty.
Much like every other fuel price whining thread then.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Like many people, you have fallen into the trap set by the government, i.e. we are going to cripple you and fleece you with tax rises to fund our profligacy and money to help those Chinese and Indians anyway, so where do you want to pay more? Rather than, where can we save money, and which useless quangos can we cull, how much could we save by cutting the guardianistas non jobs? None of the 3 main set of monkeys have properly answered this.0 -
+1. Couldn't agree more. Makes no difference to the public in terms of services we get from the government whether fuel duty goes up or down a few pence.Like many people, you have fallen into the trap set by the government, i.e. we are going to cripple you and fleece you with tax rises to fund our profligacy and money to help those Chinese and Indians anyway, so where do you want to pay more? Funny, the government keeps upping taxes to stop people smoking, drinking and driving, and they just keep on doing it. On the assumption that they tax people on things they just can't stop doing, surely the next thing is sex, which is a major untapped revenue source. It's relatively easy to tax !!!!!! DVDs. They can block !!!!!! web sites unless they pay tax. If they legalise brothels and tax that, no more university fees. Ultimately, they can implant microchips in every genital, so they can meter every intercourse and tax accordingly.0

Go on then.
Start finding £22bn of savings, without economically and socially crippling the country, and open the debate. I don't like fuel duty as much as the next guy, but somebody has to pay somewhere.
As for the Grauniad jobs section, I'm guessing that's just "back of the sofa change" in the grand scheme of things, much like MPs expenses.
We're about to go into a period of service cuts and tax increases, not "one or the other". To facilitate a cut in fuel duty, you have to accept an increase elsewhere as well as cost savings in government. Something that the RHA and other "fuel price crusaders" don't want to debate because, quite frankly, they know that they'll get their !!!!!! handed to them. The RHA will soon have something to moan about if we introduced Beligan rates of fuel duty in exchange for Beligan rates of corporation tax.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Aren't they finally starting to make a dent in that by culling the Civil Service and LA gravy trains?whatmichaelsays wrote: »Go on then.

Yeah OK, lets cut the numbers of teachers, police, ambulance staff, armed forces, social services, doctors, nurses, after all what does it matter,
our population is growing every year, we do not need all these "timewasters".
Are you really that short sighted or do you train a lot for your specific event?0
