So SL can drop books anywhere? OMG, makes a mockery of the reps who work damn hard to get and keep customers happy. So sorry for you, hope your ASM can get it sorted. Not that he sounds like the sort of bloke anyone would want to order off anyway - how rude. Do let us know the outcome, your ASM must have been horrified to hear you in tears.

Yes Technically, SL's can drop books anywhere, but usually we drop EXPIRED books, and in areas where we think there aren't any reps, and we are supposed to make it clear we are canvassing for Reps, although I think most of us will put, if you would like to see a current book, please contact me.

However.... I used to ask my ASM what areas she didn't have any reps in, so I could canvass those areas for a Rep. And with the new mapping system, I think, and not hundred per cent sure, we can have a look at areas to see if there are reps, but we can't look for detailed information.

OH and I am not agreeing with this SL! He is out of order for what he did! To put current books with delivery dates and to say he will be coming back to collect orders!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is sooooooooooooooo wrong, that is not looking for Reps.
  • Thats so harsh....he needs a good slap and taking down a peg or two! :silenced:

    Some people

I just got my area given to me today and got out my first 40 books, I am very lucky in thats its the street I live in and ones close by, I have 170 houses to cover and for the first few campaigns would you suggest covering every house? till I get some idea of customers, I dont mind the footwork of the delivering the books, however the logistics might be a bit tight with 40 books, how many would others look at ordering to deal with this quantity of houses?

Also Ive seen others mention putting the order forms through the printer to print on the contact info, is this correct? will the avon forms run through a standard printer? also would it be very cheeky to ask but does anyone have a template for the document that is used to print onto the forms? I would be very greatful for a copy

Thanks and I cant wait to see if anyone wants to order anything when I go back on sunday to pick up my books lol:T

    snipped

    Hi Mrs Hornsey

if you pm lucyclare, I think she has a template for putting it through the printer, as this is what she does.

I would suggest that you drop the books at all the houses if you can manage it. The best thing to do is put a note on the front explaining you are the new Rep for the area, and your details, ie name, mobile and email. And also, please tick this box if you do not wish to receive any more books with a tick box, and a BIG.... please leave this book out on xx date, morning or afternoon(your preference) so that you can collect the book for recanvassing. You could put a note that you will be reusing the book so please leave it out, even if you are not ordering.

Fingers crossed most people will leave their books out for you, and with plenty of orders :) I personally would only leave the books for 3 days, as if anyone does not want one, they will quickly chuck it back outside, so the short time period means you can get an idea of who wants the books, who doesn't and who is ordering.

Keep a record of all the houses that say they do not want a book. And in 6 months time, recanvass them with a " I know you have advised you do not want to receive Avon books, but I thought you might like to have another look, as it has been 6 months. If you still do not wish to receive Avon books, please tick this box."

As to the number of books to order? Get an idea first of how many houses don't want to see a book, you might find just ordering 30 each campaign will be sufficient for canvassing every few days. And don't forget, the territory you don't get around, you can put them on the "expired" campaign. ie if you are currently issuing C10 books and don't get around all your territory, canvass the ones you didn't get to the first time, with C10, and deliver C11 to the ones you got to the first time that want to see books.

    Hope this makes sense.

As far as I know - NOBODY should canvass (blanket drop) your specific area actively looking for customers or orders........but they can look anywhere for new reps.

I will clarify this for you further (not being patronising I hope)

If a SL is doing a Brochure Expired - there should be NO order form in the brochure pack. They should clearly mark they are looking for representatives. They can go anywhere with "brochure expired" and you cannot stop people doing this.

If they are using the Avon purchased Brochure expired cards, that's fine.

It could be a geniune mistake, but it really doesn't sound like it.

If the ASM is the same ASM for them, then they should give them a severe talking to.

IT'S NOT FAIR when people are poaching territory/sales. However, SLs are entitled to canvass wherever they want for looking for reps - NOT customers.

To be honest, brochure expired is a pants idea UNLESS you have got vacant territory from the ASM. Whenever I have done it accidently on someone elses patch - it has ALWAYs ended in tears.

I would be annoyed if someone brochure expired on my patch....even though I have my customers well trained.

Sounds harsh - but that is MEGA out of order. It is so wrong on so many levels..........if he has done that off his own back.

Just check that the ASM hasn't "mistakenly" allocated him the territory.
If she hasn't, then I would pursue a complaint. It's just not fair.

Whether we agree or not about the territory system - It's there - so let's all play by the rules.

I would definitely complain. It's harming you earning your money.

If you get nowhere having complained to your ASM - PM me, I will try to find your divisional manager or you could complain to Sales Leadership.

Avon has a GREAT reputation, it's a shame when people try and ruin it. I think that stamping out the idiots makes the whole thing better and more fair for everyone.

I am a Sales Leader and I have stopped doing brochure expireds. I do not teach it to my team either. I have told my ASM and DSM that I fundamentally do not agree with them. If I want to look for representatives on a street, then I knock the doors or put flyers through asking. Only if I am given vacant territory, would I consider putting brochure expireds through the door, with the consent of the ASM.

I do appreciate that not all ASMs are great, but if they don't co-operate or help me, I don't recruit in their area. (what I mean is, if they don't steer me into a vacant area) Simple as that. As a Sales Leader, you are independent. However, you do have to play by the rules, and in this case with this bloke, it doesn't sound like he has played by the rules.

    ARGH!!!!!!!!!

Now she expects me to give her £147 of stuff.... and "trust" her.

    i really cant believe it.

Would rather put it all through on returns! Sorry! Was only making about £7 commission anyway as was giving her a 20% cut.

    No cash. No goods.

    raaaaah :(:(:(

DO NOT GIVE HER THE GOODS.
It's not worth it, especially if you have placed the order on her behalf (even with the consent)

    Just not worth the hassle......

I NEVER put order forms with my expired books, I always use the Avon cards for expired brochures, I don't make my own flyers. I canvass in areas where I know there aren't any reps, hence me looking for Reps, and that is why I put or if you would like to see a current brochure, because someone might want to become a customer, if not a Rep. Although when I go to see them with a current book, I discuss with them about becoming a rep.

Saying that, in the last area I canvassed, the customer was telling me she hadn't seen an avon book for 12 years and she would be a customer and when she had moved, she would like to think about being a rep.
