Hi, I received a parking charge notice from europarks whereby they have sent me a letter with my registration photographed going into the car park and coming out, I was 67 mins over the max advised time.

I've read various posts and am concerned they will take this further with debt collection agency and court. With them having photographs of my reg and the times, is this different from other letters received and should I pay?

Any advise would be a great help
    Welcome to MSE :hello:

We've had many cases of Euro Car Parks on here and not one has been to court yet. They use scare tactics and threats to make people pay. If they are so sure of their position they should take court action yet they never seem to do so. Strange huh?

Ignore them and they will go away once they realise you aren't falling for their scam.
  • I have today received a "Letter 1" from Graham White (Notice of Intended Litigation) dated 13 JAN 2012, having previously received an APCOA Parking Enforcement Notice dated 20/10/11 and a letter from Roxburghe dated 03 JAN 2012 ... am I the only one to receive one recently or have they restarted this process? - and should I continue to ignore them?

 i too have just got graham white solicitors letter also dated 13/01/2012 how does this happen if as stated above they went out of business in 2005??
  • I dont want to go to much into detail as PPC has my personal details, but after double amount of PCN's issued and it going to c/court i can confirm that due to not enough evidence to prove i was the driver at the time..... Driver 1 - PPC 0 Whoop :rotfl:

    :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:
ps. That was the first and more likely the last time they will ever take it to court......Happy days.:j
  • There is a way of scaring the living daylights out of private parking companies and their management involving Land Law, Consumer Protection Law, Data Protection Law and Criminal Law, which makes them back away, particularly when they realise they could end up in front of a court explaining their actions to a judge. I used this when a private landowner tried to make a charge on me. The landowner backed away very quickly and agreed to pay me over £50 in compensation for trespass and damage caused to my vehicle.
  • Can I suggest you report this matter to the police. If the firm of solicitors has gone out of business, the letter is probably a forgery. That is a matter for the police.

Graham White Solicitors are very much in business, they trade under that name, but are the trading name of Michael Sobbell Ltd, on companies house website it's active and tax returns have been made etc.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Vehicle owner/keeper details held by DVLA are subject to the Data Protection Act 1998. With effect from 6 April 2010, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has the power to award compensation where a person has suffered loss as a result of abuse or misuse of their personal information. Also from the same date, the ICO also has the power to impose a Financial Penalty Notice (FPN) on any organisation who abuses or misuses a person's or persons' personal information. The maximum penalty the ICO can impose is £500,000. Yes, that figure is correct. Please visit the ICO website for confirmation and further details.

If a PPC sends a demand to you, make a formal complaint against them and DVLA to the ICO. There are potential issues of Improper Disclosure of Personal Information, Using Personal Data for an Illegal Purpose and Allowing Personal Data for An Illegal Purpose, which are covered by the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • Having taken all previous advice on this forum and others re letters I had received from Civil Enforcement Ltd over a so-called "offence" in July 2011, I thought I had heard the last of this.
Today I received a letter saying they have instructed their solicitors to submit a claim to Northampton County Court and their liabilty has now incresed from the original £75 to £265 + Court fees of £50, and Solicitor's costs of £110 (a total of £425).
They have however offered to accept a "without prejudice" offer of £75 if I pay by 02/02/12.

Is the advice still to ignore?
The "offence" happened in Scotland. Does this affect matters in any way?
    Thanks for your advice.

Just had one of these PCNs from Euro Car Parks for using a Lidl Car Park near the town centre in Chesterfield. I was in the car park for 20mins using a shop over the road and when i came back i saw the attendant in the car park but nothing in the shape of a ticket on the car at all although i saw him watching me leave. This was back on 22nd Dec.

Just had a letter through the post today as per the normal EuroPark letters shown further up and they are trying to do me for staying longer than i should, limit is one hour i believe and bearing in mind i was on my lunch break which is one hour and it takes me 10/15mins to get to town from work its impossible i was over an hour, and also says i've failed to pay within the time specified so the account has increased as per their T&Cs. First contact i've had from them bearing in mind the attendant appears to have made a note of my car as i was leaving and didnt get a chance to put anything on the car and there is no way i was over an hour anyway. They are asking for payment with 28 days but as per the advice on here i intend to ignore it completely and any further letters chasing it...i assume this is fine?

If by some miracle it did get to court their first stumbling block is proving i was there longer than an hour bearing in mind my swipe card at work will show me leaving and returning to work inside about 45mins!!
