We're paying for everything ourselves, but then we are a bit older and not exactly starting out in life, so can afford things, altho saying that we are still having a very modest wedding.

We're the same, my parents are no longer with us and OH's parents have both been retired for getting on for 20 years and live 200 miles away so we have done it all ourselves.
...have amended this to read where I'm up to:
    - Church booked
    - Venue booked
    - Dress bought
    - Shoes bought
    - OH's ring on order
    - Found my ring, being ordered next week
    - Tiara bought
    - Band booked
    - Car booked
    - Cake booked
    - Decorations sorted
    - Stationary bought & invites sent
    - Favour bags bought

We've just got to book the florist and sort the suits :)
Id love to get linda - she must be very busy and good to be booked up till november but i live in hamilton in scotland so not much chance of that - theres someone local though and im thinking about calling them and asking nearer the time.

Why not ask Linda if she knows anyone in your area?

I didn't even realise it was the national until I got online to play the lottery so hopefully should win something :rotfl:

Screamer, sorry to hear that, I hope you're ok

I can't belive how much some of you have booked and organised, OH still wants to get married at the end of November and doesn't see anything getting in the way, we can't really put it back either as he really wants his mum to be there and her health isn't too great. We still have options but I should probably be doing/planning something so everything isn't a rush when we decide where we are getting married :D

anyhows i went to try on dresses today and im sooo disapointed. As i mentioned before i dont want a strapless dress and there wasnt a single one in the whold shop which had straps.

I've had one visit to a dress shop, and it was quite overwhelming.

I too wasn't keen on the ide of a strapless dress (for the opposite reason - I'm a bit busty & want to be able to wear a bra). However, I tried a couple on, and they looked & fitted quite nicely, although I'm still not sure (need to try a few more)

The lady in the wedding dress shop was really helpful. Apparently most strapless styles come with detatchable spaghetti straps.

    Hopeyou manage to find something.
I'm going to have another look once I've got the venue booked.
  • screamer im so sorry i hope your ok xx

Floss thanks you sound very organised! if lindas about do you have any contacts in the glasgow/ south lanarkshire area? someone you could perhaps recomend? to be exact i stay in hamilton?

thanks rainbow drops and im glad you like the strapless dresses but they just dont suit me - my mum and sister agree. For illustration purposes this is kinda what im looking for http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg120/victoria-rose/06%20wedding%20dress/06bridal067.jpg and its this style im looking for not just some form of strap. its not the best picture but i cant find the one i really wanted on ebay anymore.

bubbles its just tyypical man to not trust your judgement! there was a kid in my shop yesterday and the dad was totally shocked going your horse won!
