Q: How are you spliting costs of wedding between you and H2Bs and/or parents?

This has been a bone of contention between me & OH for a while now...

When we got engaged, we said that we intend to pay for the wedding ourselves. OH's mum said "Well will your parents at least buy your dress?" They've also said that once we have settled the balance of the cake, they will give us the money.

As it happens my parents (quite unexpectedly, I might add) have offered up £5,000 towards our wedding and honeymoon. Amazed by their offer, as the whole wedding budget was around £6,500. We're unlikely to change our plans much though other than to put some money behind the bar.

It wouldn't bug me as much, but in-laws-to-be currently pay their younger son's rent while he's at uni PLUS they give him a socialising allowance! It's OH I feel sorry for...

but it's not even about the money, a little contribution of their time to help out with something, to give support in other ways... but they're not going to change now, so there's no point me even saying all this really:o Thanks for reading. I'll stop now lol!

    xx

This is what I object to as well. We are paying for most of it (other than my lovely families contribution) and I would just appreciate H2Bs family being a little more behind us, willing to help in other ways etc. Ah well! :) I'm still marrying the most lovely man ever (other than all your DFs ;))
