Yours on the right, theirs on the left. I think.

    *checks a letter*

    Yes.

Beenie, just say you need to report an incident of assault, and that you're the victim and feeling very fragile. They'll get all professional and tell you the procedure, but should be fairly kind to you if they know you're shaken.

'Can I please speak to someone about my ex? He assaulted me and has been abusing me verbally, mentally and physically.' Then they will go through what has been happened. I know it sounds scary, but they deal with this stuff every day (sadly) and they will not judge you or make you feel bad. You may even feel better after it.

    Take control Beenie.

Beenie - you put your address at the top, left, right or middle. Left is the more modern way so probably go with that - everything aligned to the left. Middle would normally be if you have your own personalised letter headed paper! Then the date, then their address always on the left.

I echo what the others say. SS won't take your kids off you for making a report. The most they would do is show an interest which you might take as being nosey, but they are just looking out for your kids. Your OH might have been a decent bloke once, but he isn't at the moment and you need to live in the present and for the future. Please don't look back and don't blame yourself.

Which is probably one of the reasons why you are finding it so hard. When you can remember what a person used to be like it makes it hard to accept that they are not like that any more.

I'm sure they deal with this kind of thing all the time so they will probably be quite understanding and used to people not knowing what to say.

sticking my oar in again...this is what abusers do - they worm their way in and make you think everything is your fault, you are a crap person, and you actually deserve the treatment you are getting. I said before that my DH was a victim for 4 years (yes it can happen to men too) and the stories he tells are incredible and even he can't explain fully why he was so blind and why he kept letting her back into his life over and over. It's SO HARD, I know, but you've chucked him out once (twice, several times) so I KNOW you have the strength to do it. You've taken the absolutely number one hardest step, now you just have the easy, baby ones left of sorting out the police, the council. When you phone the council, stress that you are very very scared he will come back and hit you and even more scared he will hurt the children - that should get them acting pronto.

Oh and cancel your bank card and change your phone number.

I'll shut up now b/c everyone else has said the same things ;).

It really doesn't. I'm actually sat here not knowing what to say because after all these months of me banging on about this and you're all STILL so nice and supportive even though i keep messing up and thinking he won't do it, and i feel like a fraud that you're all taking the time to write to me even though i don't deserve it cos i was asking for it in letting him cross the doorstep in the first place.

You deserve the support, you don't deserve the abuse. Don't really have anything new to say that hasn't been said already bt please do phone and report him. He doesn't deserve to get away with what he's done to you. Big hugs hun xx

CSH didn't have chance to reply the other day but I'm now at MIL's in a little village halfway between Perth and Dundee. #

Had an ok drive up yesterday - took 7 hours altogether with one feed stop. Alfie slept the whole way but then wouldn't settle very well last night. Hope we have an easier night tonight as it's hard enough work as it is without being away from home too.

Won't be able to keep up so well this week anyway as not sure how often I'll be able to get online.
