    Oh Jebus!

Keira is dying apparently. The silly moo went and shoved her finger inside one of my diet coke cans. Now she has done this before, and she knew fine what happened THEN too. What do you lot think happened? Of course! She cut her finger.

    "SCRRRRRRRRRRREAAAAAAM"

    "Argh what?"
    "BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD"
    "Where?"
    "DONT TOUCH IT *SCRRRRRRRRRREEEAAAAM*"
"OMG why did you do that?"
    "ITS BLOOOD"
"Yes I know, I'll get you plaster, that was silly"
"*SCREEEEAMMMM* WILL IT HURT I HAVE BLOOD"

Now she is sitting beside me wailing every couple of seconds about her "blood"

something's bothering me a little so....

anyone who had a c-section, did you get to hold baby straight away??

when K was born they showed me him and then took him away. i didnt get to hold him for bout 40mins while they 'fixed' me up so DH, PIL and my mum all had held him before me. there was no mention in notes of any problem.... just plays on my mind a little as all the mums on OBEM who had c/s have held baby straight away. prob me being daft :(

thanks MFD, i assumed it was so they could look after me and yes when i watch OBEM and see mums holding babies straight away it does make me think, oh i never got that. and then my brain goes into overdrive. but i'm positive if there had been any problem i would have been told. DH says nothing was mentioned to him so i'm sure i;m being a bit daft. i find it a bit upsetting that they (PIL) got to hold him before i did. although after what had happened i know it meant a lot to them that they were there (albeit in the waiting room) when he was born.

    does that make sense...?
i;m sure its just 'the way its done' and i was so tired at that stage i may have missed them saying things. i know of course that he was taken to be cleaned, weighed, agpar etc and they did put him beside me to see him, i just didnt get that cuddle before everyone else did. DH was the first to hold him. (dont mind that bit)

but one thing for certain..... next time it will be said that i want to hold baby first. and someone has already said that i can go and ask to see all the notes if i really want to.

Amber was lifted out, 'theres your baby' style, wrapped up and handed to DH. I probably looked too terrified to even have her flopped on top of me. DH held her next to my head. Soon as we got to recovery she was presented to my arms and boobs.

Because of what happened with DS2 (I didn't see him till day 4 due to me trying not to die and all, I found out that MIL had been in to see him BEFORE ME and she had taken pictures, I had a GA too so literally had never seen my own baby) it was all over my notes 'If baby is taken to SCBU/NICU nobody except Dad is allowed to see her until Mum says it's ok'. My consultant was also aware of it and had marked it down in my medical notes that they have.

So yes, you can put down that nobody except Dad is allowed to hold (or see) the baby until you say it is ok.

I think it is just wrong for someone else (excluding Dad, but even then, a little) to hold your baby before you do. It feels wrong right down to the pit of my stomach and I hate it. Unnatural. With DS2 he couldn't be held, but it still feels like an invasion (and a bit of an insult to visit a baby when mum is fighting for her life)

Just work it through in your head, keep talking about it, PM me if you like, you will hit a point where you can say 'I did not like what happened, and it's ok for me not to like it, but I can move on from it.'

Can you tell I'm still pretty messed up about it?

Baby will not settle to sleep today. Only managed to put her down once for half an hour so far since she got up at half 8  and getting quite frustrated cos i've got loads of housework to do and she's obviously a grumpy guts cos she's so tired. wish OH was here so i could dump her on him for an hour just to do some cleaning but he's at work til half 9 :(

Feeling like a guilty mummy today tho cos i accidentally clipped her finger with nail clippers when trimming her nails this morning . it seems tiny and i didn't notice at first cos she didn't react but then it took ages to stop bleeding :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse

I only bite Isla's now after a close call with the clippers.

My daughter is making musical bum noises on my knee, I swear she's been sneaking in the kitchen eating tins of beans! (or SM's bean lasagne :rotfl:)

I know. I think she was more annoyed than anything cos i spent the next hour fighting with her to open her fist and looking at her finger every minute and trying to clean the blood off! x
