looking for specific mobile recommendations...not something too annoying that will take him from now until he's older (so entertaining AND soothing - is that possible?). Are you usually able to isolate sound/movement? (like have it moving without the sound). I am woefully clueless!!
Wish Evie's did that. She loves watching her little animals go around and around but the tune (if you can call it that) is horrible!

Even family and close friends, so you might find that there's nothing to worry about at visiting time. If I don't want anyone to hold him I just say, 'oh he's just settled' or 'he's a bit upset at the moment, I think he needs his mum' etc to put them off. I know some people probably think I am a bit neurotic and selfish but I don't care!
Most family/friends will wait until I ask them, or at least wait a while and then ask politely if they can. Only exception is MIL  She's nice enough but does my head in sometimes and is way over the top with Evie as if she's her own! but i still need to learn to be more assertive with her:j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy0 -

I've done that a few times
Stick something "new" in eyeshot next time - even if it's just a page from a magazine or brightly coloured beakers or something. While she is staring at it, you can nip the nails off quickly. Charlotte liked looking at Bob's nobbly wobbly - and no that isn't rude

I got to hold the boys first and my Mam was with me both times as ex was sitting in the corner trying to pretend he wasn't there. Craig was really into the birth and my Mam wasn't at that one, so he got to hold Charlotte first. He was chuffed to bits about that. Then he passed her to me while he cut the cord.
Having a problem toilet training Charlotte, so we now have a pot of "wee wee sweets" on the bathroom windowsill and she can have a sweet if she does a wee in the toilet. Also she has a couple of sweets after tea if she has been a good girl. We're still working our way through the Christmas sweets
Toilet training not gone well at all today. She wet herself when we had the dogs out after lunch, then asked for the toilet twice this afternoon but did nothing on it. Then the minute I stepped out in the garden to get the washing in, she stood on my desk chair and wee'd all over it
She's also been horrid today - just twisty and just generally winding me up by touching things she knows she shouldn't, pulling the dogs tails, throwing stuff etc. I told her she wasn't allowed any sweets as she had been naughty and explained why. She had a strop so I told her off for that, so she gave me a lovely hug and said sorry and asked for the sweets. I said no, and explained she can't hug me to get sweets, so she had a mega tantrum and ended up on the naughty step.
Then she promptly went upstairs, did a wee in the toilet and smugly said "I can have a wee wee sweet now". What a sneak! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Keira is off in her bedroom in a sulk, she was drawing on her little doodling board thing (you know you write on it, then slide the thing across and it erases it)
and I was sitting drawing with her and I saying "oh do you know what these letters are?" then I said oh this is how you write your name, and she went in a mega huff because she couldn't do it. She gets really frustrated she can't read either, and I do try and help her but she seems to think she should be able to do it straight off, and cant so gets upset about it.
Charlotte seems smart beccles0
