It’s the same debate as the other day. It’s not about wrapping your baby in cotton wool, it’s about doing your own risk assessment and being happy with what you choose to do. Holly is not and won’t be wrapped in cotton wool. She is exposed to plenty of germs and gets lots of rough and tumble play (too much if DH is in charge!). But if I was leaving an active baby in the room by his/herself, I would want to minimise the risks.
I have a travel cot, and would definitely consider using it as a playpen when making dinner etc. But I would be happy for her to crawl around and explore when I am free so I can keep an eye on her. I don’t want her to have an unnecessary accident and cause her pain because I didn’t bother. I would be very upset with myself. Accidents happen, but I don’t want to contribute to it. And I have an open plan house so can’t shut doors as easily so will definitely have stair gates installed.

Anyway, I have a lazy baby so don’t have this problem at the moment. But one day she will catch me out!!!!

Csh, were you asking about Pumpkin Patch? I ordered a few times last year and I'm pretty sure the postmark was Australia or NZ! Might take a little while for the order to come through...
    xx

Sami What does Tara's book tell you to do?

Speaking of Tara - has anyone heard from her? Is she still having internet problems?

    Hi,
Can anyone help please? Did anyone have any issues with older children just before their babies were born? The reason I am asking is that my 4 year old is very excited about the baby coming next week, but she has started acting a bit out of character. She's normally a bit of a handful - loads of energy, but she's not normally destructive. Monday morning I woke up to find her in the bathroom and she had got nail varnish, mixed with various creams that she found and spread the goo all over the bathroom. When we asked her why she did it, she said because 'no one was looking!'
I'm convinced this behaviour is down to feeling insecure with the baby about to arrive, but I'm not really sure the best way to handle it. We tried to treat it as normal 'naughty' behaviour, because I don't want her to think she can get away with misbehaving, but I really feel for her, and I'm not sure what to do for the best - does anyone have any suggestions?
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

csh - it sounds like your littel one is just like mine. She was mobile so early and watned to investigate things, but didn't have any fear (she still doen't!). I made the sitting room as safe as possible and had her in there surrounded by favourite toys if I needed some peace or go elsewhere. TV also used to keep her attention for just enough time to nip to the loo or make dinner/lunch/etc.

I also used to take her with me when I did stuff and had different toys - we still have special car toys she only gets when in the car. It makes it more fun and interesting for them that way I think.

DOn't worry - it's just a phase (I may yet write a book called that!), soon it'll be how can you stop him from following you everywhere :D

thanks for the cup recommendations - Annabel doesn't seem that enamoured by her new cup but is slowly getting the hang of it - it is definitely harder than a normal straw and carton!

buggy purchase advice needed! okay ladies you pushchair adicts have another to add to your midst. I'm buying a stroller for using on holidays/bus journeys and when I don't want to take my bugaboo cameleon. I've decided on a MacLaren Quest. Mothercare have a promotion on and John Lewis have price matched it for £125. At motherare I can get a further 10% off using a code and free delivery. I have £45 of JL vouchers and get free delivery. However the colour way I really wanted is being discontinued and more expensive at £150 (not on promotion) but could still use either set of vouchers. However, I've now just found the design I want online at a reputable shop for £125 (but have no money off promotions or vouchers to use).

Now, I can afford to spend the full amount, but love to think I've got a really good deal/bargain/saved what I can.

    what would you ladies do??????

Not sure, CBA with the maths but remember the JL vouchers are still 'money' so its not technically a bargain IYKWIM?? Yes, you are spending less cash money but its still costing you the full amount!

Seems a bit extreme to put him upstairs in his cot everytime I need to use the loo as the loo is downstairs :p
you are an awkward Annie aren't you :p
tbh I'd just leave him on the floor and go the loo

SB I was think about you this morning. Have you been to the Bug Experience at the Albert Dock? We're thinking of going tomorrow but wanted to know if it was worth it. I know the babies won't care probably, but will have Liv, and my friends older boy 3.

really good point. The vouchers were a present but I know they would be happily used on other things in a heartbeat! the more i think of it it's a very good point....

    erm here's a brief overview http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/how-to-conceive-a-girl.html
basically it works on the prinicpal that girl sperms are like long distance runners and boy sperms are sprinters so you need to get jiggy at the right time

r.mac I'd go for the cheapest price, which I think is the mothercare one?
does the cup you bought have a valve? I got Chris a TT straw cup that had a valve which you had to bite down on - me no likey that so I cut it out with nail scissors :p

    Yes! :p

Its not just the loo though, because he doesn't nap for more than 20 mins it feels like I'm on red alert all day! I still have breakfast/lunch/dinner to make washing to do etc and he cannot be trusted on his own lol Before he would just chum me round in his bouncy chair but hes too big for that now.
Also OH goes to work at 6.15am and gets home at 7.30pm so I can't even get a wee break to do ironing (LOL) or that at 5 o'clock:rotfl:

That women from netmums messaged me back and won't take less than £40 for the L&G, that'll be why you've still got it after a fortnight love!
