SS, how much is your idea of splashing out on a hotel? Yours sounds wonderful!

    xx

This is it, but we booked via laterooms.com and Quidco and it was just over €100/night and then I think 5% cashback. It might be more expensive in the summer, we were there in February.

It’s the same debate as the other day. It’s not about wrapping your baby in cotton wool, it’s about doing your own risk assessment and being happy with what you choose to do.

I totally agree. Molly's a free range baby in the living room, which is babyproofed to a reasonable extent (she could bang her head on the piano but the dangerous and breakable stuff is out of reach). The computer room is not babyproofed and we put her in a babycage, the L&G or the door jumper when she's in here to keep her safe from sharp edges, bags of sharp stuff, computer scroowdrivers and so on.

Actually csh, what about a door bouncer? You can take it down when he's not in it and it'll take up almost no space?

Also, the event that produced Molly was memorable for multiple reasons IYKWIM and she's definitely a girl. (edit: missed the bit where you asked not to hear about it MFD, but it was so good I'm not deleting :p)

csh - do you have a bumbo?

Yep! Hes hates it and can vacate it with his trademade back arching!

Have a door bouncer but can't leave him in it on his own cos he'd terrorise the hound.

He was just hanging over his highchair wafting toast about until the dog came over then whipping the toast away and eating it!

Although OH is back at work next week which will make more of a routine happen, OH Likes to go to bed at 9 when he is at work, he gets up at half 7 (lazy isnt he lol)
And people thought it was strange that I went to bed at nine when I had to get up at six.

I don't baby proof. I Christopher proof. Much, much worse. I caught him chewing the table earlier. Just sitting there gnawing away.
That was the first thing I had to teach Alice not to do. (Although her not having teeth at the time meant it wasn't so destructive.)

lol, I want to resist the urge to just jump him at every oportunity though, we're gonna be trying for a girl using Tara's book (not written by Tara but used by Tara and passed on;)) we're gonna tell everyone it's our late honeymoon though I know #3 will rock the boat even more than #1 and 2 did :o/:p
Did people give their opinions on your child choices? It's none of their business how many children you choose to have.

I somehow didn't have stair gates when DS & DD1 were little. (Until they could get out of bed/cots - then I put one on their bedroom door).

Maybe now I've got one because i'm [STRIKE]lazy[/STRIKE] old and cba getting up every two minutes to get her back down the stairs. :rotfl:

In fact, I probably only have the stair gate now because MIL went out and bought it when I was first pregnant!
We're on our third stair gate and still haven't actually used one. First was present from in-laws and didn't fit so we took it back. Second one was for Alice's bedroom door but it wasn't what we wanted so changed for the third before discovering we had weird metal door frames so we just use the North Pole (aka an old broom handle) under the door handle at night.

csh - it sounds like your littel one is just like mine. She was mobile so early and watned to investigate things, but didn't have any fear (she still doen't!). I made the sitting room as safe as possible and had her in there surrounded by favourite toys if I needed some peace or go elsewhere. TV also used to keep her attention for just enough time to nip to the loo or make dinner/lunch/etc.

I also used to take her with me when I did stuff and had different toys - we still have special car toys she only gets when in the car. It makes it more fun and interesting for them that way I think.

DOn't worry - it's just a phase (I may yet write a book called that!), soon it'll be how can you stop him from following you everywhere :D

thanks for the cup recommendations - Annabel doesn't seem that enamoured by her new cup but is slowly getting the hang of it - it is definitely harder than a normal straw and carton!

buggy purchase advice needed! okay ladies you pushchair adicts have another to add to your midst. I'm buying a stroller for using on holidays/bus journeys and when I don't want to take my bugaboo cameleon. I've decided on a MacLaren Quest. Mothercare have a promotion on and John Lewis have price matched it for £125. At motherare I can get a further 10% off using a code and free delivery. I have £45 of JL vouchers and get free delivery. However the colour way I really wanted is being discontinued and more expensive at £150 (not on promotion) but could still use either set of vouchers. However, I've now just found the design I want online at a reputable shop for £125 (but have no money off promotions or vouchers to use).

Now, I can afford to spend the full amount, but love to think I've got a really good deal/bargain/saved what I can.

    what would you ladies do??????

If it was me, I would buy the colour I wanted online, then spend the JL vouchers in Waitrose on groceries. That way you get the buggy at the better price but you're using the vouchers on something practical rather than another splurge, if that makes any sense!

csh- I definitely like the inflatable paddling pool idea best! That way you could either use it with the balls in or without, then in the garden later in the year.

This is about a mile away from me, between my house and gym http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/8606781.stm. I'm so sad for the families of the firemen. My hubby attended it as he was on shift last night- I'm just so, so grateful he came home this morning :o. I can't imagine if he'd gone off to work and never come back.

Beenie- if you're around we love you and miss you!

Nursery was very nice. Lovely big garden and good facilities. Still need to see some more and some child minders though.

Rmac - I would get the colour I wanted, especially as there isn't actually that much differece in price:)

csh - I have seen some baby bean bags, they have a kind of harness attached so they don't fall off/out. Would that be any good for you, although I think they are quite pricey. I personally would go for the travel cot idea...you can buy smallish ones so they don't take up to much room, just shove it in a corner if it isn't going to be used for hours at a time. I definitely think you need to use it sooner rather than later though as once he is properly mobile you will have a nightmare getting him to adjust to using it....best to do it as young as possible. I allow Kai to roam, but there is nothing he can hurt himself on/damage, we don't even have a coffee table and our nest of tables are jammed between the fireguard and the small sofa as they are stopping little fingers pulling wires!!
i suppose as we had kids from an early age and within a year of moving into our own house, we have never had a posh fully interior decorated house iykwim, I suppose for people who have it is a hard adjustment to make.
