Its was me that it was said to. She ment it in the way that she doesn't see how my life has moved forward. That in ten years i'm just exactly the same... Believe me I am not the same person I was ten years ago, I am wildly different.0 -

Your life is probably really different to hers, I can kind of see why she would have said it but that was probably just something a mother would say...any of your friends that are CFBC will know exactly how your life has moved on. Doing things like going out to the cinema and going for a pizza are a very distant memory for me!!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

But look at what happened in China boys were favoured they have the problem of more men than women, not to mention that a lot of baby girls were killed just for the simple fact they weren't a boy so wouldnt be a good provider0

I have to say its great to see so many other people who are child free by choice. Every single one of my friends want to have children or have them. And we are seen as the od ones.0

I'm don't want to insult people and having read the comments on this thread i now have a better understanding, i always keep my opinions to myself but just wanted to let you know that by sharing your experiences 1 person who didn't understand now does
But why would that be strange? Why do you feel expressing your opinion would insult anyone?0 -

Sorry I wasn't acusing you of anything, I didn't mean it to come across like that.
I was actually thinking of someone I used to know who had a child as a teen just to get a house for free as she put it. I know another one who claimed that her full time working partner didn't live with her so she could claim more. It drove me nuts.0 -

So when does the enforced sterilisation kick in? After six months on JSA? 3 months of housing benefit? Will people who've been to a few job interviews be allowed a reprieve?0 -

I think maybe S_S has said it's 'strange' becauseit could just be seen as 'strange' to some people because 'you're supposed to have them' as in, that's 'what's 'expected'Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

No, you didn't come across like anything!!
I worked with a girl who had a baby 2weeks beore I had my 2nd. When bubba was about a month old, she gave up her tenancy in her privately rented flat and declared herself homeless. She then planned for her OH to get the sack from work and got the HV involved to write letters for her to the housing dept to make sure she got a brand new flat. Now, they are sitting pretty in their flat getting everything paid for them...it disgusts meStarted PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

I'm another child-free by choice person - I'm so glad it's not just me.
One little tip for stopping people with children feeling sorry for you (and that really does wind me up), when they ask what you did on the weekend, tell them (leaning in and keeping the tone of voice low works well) "Nothing. Absolutely nothing and it was lovely". My duvet weekends are legendary - because I can.
I also hate people thinking I must be lonely (my partner and I live apart) - how can I be lonely when the money I would have spent on children fund my evening class, sessions at the gym and many holidays, days out and girlie shopping trips.
My mother is also annoyed at colleagues asking "any grandchildren yet" as none of her 3 have children any so far. She's not bothered - she's busy spending ours and any granchildren's inheritence on Carribean cruises and day trips. Lovely.
I'll stop there, you've probably gathered I could go on and on and on . . .
