Good grief, How on earth did she manage to do all that  I'm knackered at thought of it.

I don't disagree that you can't have kids and still do something with your life (if thats the right way to put it).

But its the people who think thats all there is to life, and because you choose not to have children that your not doing anything worthwhile with your life, IYKWIM.

I get knackered at the thought of it too!! Although as I get older I appreciate more and more what she has done (as a kid, I knew no different and anyone without so many siblings seemed odd!!).

But you're right, it is a choice, my Mum chose that life for herself and I respect that. In the same token I believe she now respects my decision to remain child free.

I have done quite different things than my Mum - she has never been abroad for example, whereas I have. My holidays and leisure time are spent doing things that my Mum has never experienced - because she was always caring for children - but she doesn't begrudge me it - in fact she encourages it! Asked if she would have so many children if she had a time again, she will always say, 'yes, and more'
Asked if I would have children if I had my time again and I can honestly say 'no, I still wouldn't have children'.

I found it strange to me because i want children and they don't. Thats it! i don't feel sorry for them or anything i just didn't understand their choice they couldn't explain it, so the comments on here have helped me a little more.

Oh, so no actual reason then. Do you find everyone strange when they want different things to you? So, if someone wants pasta and you want pizza, is that strange to you? Why should they have to explain it? You can't seem to explain why you think it is strange so why do they have to explain their 'choice'?

    Very bizarre.

Probably because they are off dong something infinitely more interesting than trying to save money or be in the families forum......as childless people have no concept of family [evidently...]

Zazen i'm sorry i have seemed to have upset you so much with my comments. All i wanted to say was that by reading this thread i have a better understanding of why people chose not to have children. I've not said anything offensive.

Ah, thanks! Now I get it! :D

Well it's a fair point, I mean I could be off picking the kids up from school, doing their tea, playing with them, cleaning up, doing their laundry etc. etc., or I could be having a coffee, chilling out on the computer and wondring if I should have Chinese or Inidian take away for dinner tonight. :D

And right enough, being in the marriage, relationships & families forum without a kid, that's a bit mad! :D

So when does the enforced sterilisation kick in? After six months on JSA? 3 months of housing benefit? Will people who've been to a few job interviews be allowed a reprieve?

8 kids by 8 different mothers as in yesterdays paper, with no job and a criminal record, I think cutting off his balls would be an excellent starting point as neither he or any of the !!!!less brood will be contributing anything to society. six months on jsa or your balls off will be a great motivator.

But look at what happened in China boys were favoured they have the problem of more men than women, not to mention that a lot of baby girls were killed just for the simple fact they weren't a boy so wouldnt be a good provider

that won't be an issue for the UK.

No you haven't upset me; I'm just intrigued why you think it is odd and strange.
