Hi Julie! Good luck with the GP, and don't worry about moaning - if you get all the little niggling moans and worries off your chest it might help you see more clearly what is at the root of your apprehension. I'm sure your worry about your 18 month old is a common one - I worry about this too with my six year old - but one thing I do know about 18 month olds is that if you push them out, they will let you know for sure!

With the birth plan, why not try writing down just any old thing - then read it back the next day and if there are things you are not certain about, change them, then the next day repeat the process again, until you are comfortable with it. Seeing it in black and white might clarify things for you.

On the day of the birth, you may change your mind about what you want, but at least then you are making a conscious decision to change your mind (so still staying in control, if you see what I mean), not just floundering around saying 'I don't know what to do...help......'.

I wish you all the very best and hope your spirits start to lift soon xx

Julie - just a tip with the little one. My son was 2 when my youngest was born, and I was concerned about the same thing. I just explained that baby needed me to do everything, but he was a big boy and could do some things for himself. I pretended I was really grateful that he could do things like feed himself, as it was one less thing for me to do.

I also made an agreement with him that when baby was asleep, we'd have a period of "special time" every day when the two of us could do whatever he wanted. Sometimes it was looking at books, or a craft activity or baking a batch of fairy cakes - you get the idea!

I know yours is just 18 months old, so they may be a little young, but it's worth a try to see if it works.
Here I go again on my own....

Any suggestions for a lightweight pushchair suitable from birth?
I want a lightweight pushchair because we will be going to the carribean when the baby is 3 months.

It depends on what your requirements are really. Assuming you want something that takes a car seat. The Mamas and Papas Aria takes a car seat and weighs only 5kg. You won't get any lighter than that. The seat unit does stay on the puschair though when the car seats on so it doesn't look as cool as the zapp or the buzz but you can't have everything.

Let me know if that's not what you're looking for and give me some more info and I'll see if there's anything else to suggest.

How sweet is this: I asked hubby what he wanted for christmas. His reply was... a baby. Bless him! :kisses3:

Still have two months to oblige... I'm sure he'd be happy with just a +ve pregnancy test for the moment.

    awwwwww - that's lovely!

My youngest son once asked me for a baby brother for Christmas, but it was when I was a single parent so I couldn't oblige! He's so excited that I'm expecting now and is forever talking to the baby through my tummy, and following it's development progress each week on babycentre.co.uk

My partner's the same. Expecting at the end of November, and I warned him that he might not get much else for Xmas. His response was that all he wants is bean and to be able to show her off to family and friends. I've already been told that I'm in big trouble now if bean isn't a girl. And he spends a lot of time each evening talking to my tummy, finding out where she is, giving her a poke, and lately playing music to her.

He's really looking forward to having a little girl to cuddle and play with.

Love to my two angels that I will never forget.
  • Look after yourself Julie, I won't say any more, everyone aboves said things much better than I could (plus my head's completely mush today so it would probably come out all wrong anyway).

Good luck Michelle, hope you're ok this afternoon.

For anyone reading this who doesn't receive the weekly email (if not, why not??? :D ) have you seen the possible free car thread?

If you know anyone (in antenatal classes or wherever) that may have a chance of getting this pass the link on!! :j

India, if you live anywhere near Huddersfield, Mamas and Papas have a factory shop where you might find it cheaper.
