wondering if you guys can help with a pregnancy related question (im not preggers, and not aiming to be yet
)
i was speaking to SIL2B the other day, whose sister had gone into labour with her third child. i was surprised to discover that a hospital wont admit you until your contractions are less than 5 mins apart :eek: i asked if that was because it was her third birth, mother was more experience, they tend to be quicker etc...only to be told it was quite normal not to be admitted until much later :eek: is that because (especially with a longer first labour) they assume you will be more 'comfortable' (:rolleyes: in labour?! i think not!) in your home environment? to save on beds and resources?
anyway, it got me thinking about pregnancy stuff, but i havent had a chance to ask her since, so i thought i'd ask you lot instead.
assuming no complications and mother and babe are doing well, how long do you stay in hospital after giving birth to your first child ? does this get less then with subsequent children?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Yes - it's quite normal. To be honest you are more comfortable at home - everyone knows how much better your own bed and sofa are! You're free to wander around doing whatever makes you feel comfortable - like have baths, can eat and drink if you feel up to it, watch TV, listen to music etc. In hospital, you're pretty much stuck in your own room with just the bed you deliver on, so you haven't got as much freedom.
With my first my contractions were 5 mins apart around 4am, so I went to hospital and he didn't arrive till after 11am. With my second, I was round my parents in labour and wanted to stay there as long as possible. I arrived at hospital 8cm dilated at 8.30pm and son was born at 9.45pm! The second labour was much better than the first, as I more comfortable in the early stages at my parents rather than in the hospital ward.assuming no complications and mother and babe are doing well, how long do you stay in hospital after giving birth to your first child ? does this get less then with subsequent children?
They kept me in 48 hours after having my first. I could have gone home 6 hours after the second, but as he was born at night, they kept me in overnight and I left the following morning.Here I go again on my own....0 -

No that was what I was measured at on arrival by the midwife!
Actually on the way to hospital, mid contraction I suddenly pointed out to my ex that we had a large crack in the passenger side of the windscreen, and we'd have to ring Autoglass to replace it. He thought that was quite a bizarre thing to be concerned about when birth was imminentHere I go again on my own....0 -
Can anyone help with my bra dilemma.
I am a DD, do you think I should get DD, E or F nursing bras, I have heard that they get much bigger when your milk comes in.
I plan on breastfeeding so will they go down to a DD after a couple of weeks or stay big for the whole time.
