just had an email from sky with a code so i can order sky BB

i am with tesco and very happy with them

but sky at £10 for the max is cheap

what happens if you stop sky subscription can you still get sky BB or do you have to pay extra?

i am on half price six months at the moment!

you can only get the sky broadband if you subscribe to sky tv, so if you cancel sky tv you will have to find another broadband provider.

that is partly why the b/band price is very competitive as it will help to stop some people leaving sky, and also make it harder for people ringing up and threatening to leave to get half price tv (like i did last night!!)

    Hi all
Just wondering before I register for their basic BB service.
I hope to get some honest opinions on whether it was felt worthwhile changing provider and what the general consensus is with regard to Sky BB.I'm currently out of contract with NTL & will of course be taking up Sky's offer of free BB if the service has been as uninterruped as it has been with my stay with NTL for example..
How easy was it to set up the modem with Sky....will I need to do anything with NTL apart from cancel the DD if I'm leaving them? Also I have Talk Talk line rental -will I need to revert back to BT line rental..?
I'm a light user and have Sky's most basic tv package so was wondering if it was for me.Of course I'd like to be sure before committing myself for the next 12 months to one provider and your honest opinions on the package/service so far is appreciated

    Regards
    T

As I understand it, you would be registering an interest at the moment because no one has it yet!

It's anyone way of saying limited, but not saying what it actually is.

I thought it might be helpful to have a separate thread for those of us who are in the process of signing up for Sky BB so that we can provide some feedback for others who are thinking of taking up the offer. I am signing up for the base package only (£40 startup then free).

I registered my interest as soon as the offer was publicised and received an e-mail last week telling me that it was now available. I contacted my current supplier to get my MAC code and phoned Sky on Thursday to register (0870 number unfortunately). Very straightforward and surprisingly they didn't try to sell me the £5 a month phone package. They took my credit card details for payment of the £40. They had a problem with my MAC code (don't think the guy heard me properly) and phoned me back later to confirm the code. Went through fine that time.

I got a (sales) call on Saturday asking me if I'd decided whether to sign up yet. They were very apologetic when I told them that I already had.

So far, all very easy. I'm now waiting for my router etc to turn up. I will let you know how it goes. One thing worth noting is that they don't provide a wireless card for your PC but do try to sell you one for £20 (I think) when you sign up. I've already got one so didn't bother.
