Even if/when your exchange is LLU enabled, you will still have to pay BT line rental as I understand it.

Not according to The Register
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/07/18/sky_bundles_broadband/
"The base service is free except for a £40 connection fee and a £50 installation fee. The max package costs £14 a month including phone line rental. Although it claims to be unlimited the max package will be "subject to fair use policy"."
Which suggests your linerental is £4 a month.0 -
According to todays Mail on Sunday Line Rental will be £9 a month from Sept.0

I've registered my interest as a current sky tv customer. Can someone tell me what this means, when I checked my exchange on the Samknows link someone kindly posted, it says 'my line is currently unbundled by an LLU operator'. Is this good or bad? I'm with Onetel for phone and AOL for broadband.Total debt May 2005 £83,232

It is good if you want the option of choosing somebody other than BT to provide your line rental. The samknows exchange checker will tell you which company(ies) are available to you.
It alos opens up some other great broadband deals to you.To infinity and beyond!0 -

I'm probably not the best to make recommendations after recommending e7even so positively (though they were damn good until this year!). It depends what you value most highly and what you want to pay.
How much do you download each month ? If you don't know, then you could try using Netmeter for a while and it will tell you. This will be your start point.
How fast do you want - faster is generally better but may cost more.
Do you need webspace or static ip address
How many email addresses do you need ?
Do you want a short contract or a long one ?
A lot of questions but they will help you narrow down your choices.
Take a look at the forums at www.adslguide.org.uk and also the isp ratings for your shortlist and then make your choice. To infinity and beyond!0 -
