  • It usually means they'll throttle you if need be.

    whats a wireless card??

Don't know if I have one or if I would need one?

Got a dell computer if that helps and at the moment tesco broadband.

Also am in contarct with tesco till December @ 17.97 per month, hope to get onto this Free with 40.00 connection package..this would be fine for me as I never do downloads (don't even have speakers) only thing putting me off is I never pay full price for sky and ring them everytime my offer runs out to get it for 1/2 price.. thinking about it if they refused to do this because of the broadband offer I would be £100's out before I start.

If you sign up for Sky broadband they would have tied you in to a 12 month contract so I guess they wouldn't be offering you half price any more.

A quick update. I received five (yes, five) letters from Sky in the post today. One letter contained my user name and confirmation that they would be sending me the equipment / setting up my account. The other four letter contained my password - a different one each time

I think their system generated a letter each time they tried to enter my MAC code. I've no idea which password is correct and guess I'll have to try each one until I get lucky!!!

I have Sky broadband Max, self installed 4 days ago, and have just had a very disappointing conversation with their tech support. Seems they have no mail servers, so no SMTP gateway for you to send mail, and the customer portal systems are down and does not work. I was told that these are still in testing ("we are still getting rid of a few bugs"). I switched from Pipex and am beginning to wish I hadn’t! Ok, so I can browse but cannot send or receive email and for me this is more important.

Also, I have no idea what the login is for the broadband router. So I cannot configure it!!!

Very disappointed indeed and will be refusing to pay while I do not have the service level suggested...

Are you saying that it came pre-configured with your login/password? Give the make and model number of the router and you should get some help regarding configuration etc.

  • Has anyone managed to tie down the "fair usage" policy on the £10 pm tariff?

Are you getting anywhere near the 16Mbps speed promised?
