Sky broadband cheapest package is Base which has a £40 connection charge and is then free to use as long as you are a Sky TV (any package ) customer.
All depends on whether you exchange has their LLU equipment.
Just register your interest and all will be revealed. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

If you click on the button 'LLU xDSL' it will list LLU equipment installed and when (if known) an LLU network maybe available so if EasyNet are not available then this page may give an indication.
The above route will give you an answer now but obviously registering with Sky may give you more of an idea when Sky is available in your area (if its not currently available).0 -
I don't *think* that tells the whole story. When it was first announced I registered and checked to find that our exchange is EasyNet LLUed. So on the face of it we should have been able to join straight away.
Since then we've had letters with the Sky Mag saying Sky BB will be available in our area in about 6 months. I tried to ring Sky about this but gave up after 4 or 5 automated menues. I think Sky may have learned some lessons from TalkTalk and are rolling out the Broadband in a more controlled way. TT went for a "big bang" approach which has blown up in their face [worse still in some of their customers faces!!] so if my suspicions are correct Sky are taking a much more sensible approach.
Penryhn, as bbb_uk says, register your interest with Sky and wait for their response. I wouldn't personally take their connect service, which is just reselling a BT wholesale product to you, as there are plenty of others doing it at the same or cheaper rates. If Sky isn't available now either stick with your present ISP or join another ISP that does monthly contracts [what I've done] until Sky is available in your exchange.0 -
I quite fancy Sky Connect BB as it is cheaper monthly than my current metronet (plusnet) account and I get a wireless router free with it and also the maximum download is higher at 40GB than metronets 10485MB.
Have I missed anything in the above assumptions?
Also how do I sign up? There doesn't seem to be any links in the 'you are not yet in a Sky Broadband area' page on the Sky.com website0 -

I was thinking of going for the Mid option. Can anyone tell me if that is enough for lots of mp3 downloads - say a couple a day, the odd short video download - say 10 mins a day, plus normal surfing - about 6 hours a day?0

I would be surprised if you went over it though as 40GB is very large compared to the small amounts of 2GB, 10GB that some ISPs have their limits set at.
I've never used a bandwidth monitor so can't say which one is best or if there are any free ones but a very quick google search revealed Bandwidth Monitor Pro available as a trial for 30days.
Obviously depending on results like say you surprisingly use 30GB in those 30 days then you may be best on the Max plan but this has a FUP (Fair Usage Policy) for which Sky do not go into detail of what they class as excessive usage.0 -
I purchased Sky Broadband basic package for £40 on 15th August - the router to plug into my pc was supposed to take no more than 5 working days. Today 2nd September Im still waiting!
Sky tell me they have lost 3 or 4,000 routers somewhere! They say Unipart produce them and Parcelforce deliver them and they don't know or have no way of finding out what is happening. I find it incredible that a company like Sky cannot ascertain this information which makes me suspect that all is not right! Anyone ordering Sky Broadband needs to be aware that there are delays!!

Sounds like they are in a bit of a panic at the moment - bit like when Talk Talk introduced their free broadband offer and they got too many applicants. Where do you live then out of interest as I have no idea when they will have sorted my exchange to let me have Sky Broadband..0
