Mr_Mister wrote:I called up Sky to join on the 18th August with my MAC code from my current provider and I was told it would be active within 10 days. I did not receive a activation date or the wireless router so I rang them today and was told that my order was rejected because my BT line was incompatible !! I was then told to contact BT and ask them if there is any problems on the line and suprise suprise, they said No.
I called SKY again and they then said they will have to pass this on to their Provisioning team to investigate.
No one can say what is causing it to get rejected, as I have no alarms or other services on my BT line.
Any advice?
I gave sky my BT mac code way back on 4th August. On the 17th August I had an engineer come and install bb for me (on the highest option). Anyhow he installed software but said that BT bb was still active and I had to wait until I couldnt access broadmand via BT and then just plug the line into the sky router.
Anyhow I then get a letter around 10 days later saying there is a problem with connecting me. I called sky who advised that I had to actually cancel bb with BT and free up the line so that they could connect me. BT said that the whole purpose was that with a mac code this should mean that the migration overlaps hence I wont be without BB at all. I tell sky this and they tell me ok should be connected by 30th August.
Anyhow a few days later sky call me and tell me that someone in thier call centre entered the mac code in the computer in lower case and not upper case!! and this is why they were having problems connecting me!
Now today I am told that I need a new mac code cos once they get their act together my mac code will have expired (4th sept).
So now I have to phone BT on the 5th get a new mac code from them, call Sky and make sure the member of staff I talk to puts the letters in upper case and all should be ok.
Haha we shall see!0 -

Download and install NetMeter which is excellent and free!

You mean PAC. A Puk code is one which unlocks a blocked mobile when the wrong pin has been entered to many times.
The Broadband Equivalent is a Mac,and yes Tiscali now support migrations to and from other service providers using MAC ?
MAC stands for Migration Authorisation Code. It is issued by your broadband provider and is used to seamlessly switch from one provider to another without having to wait weeks to cease your line and re-register with another provider. But i it does not allow you to keep the same E-Mail address.0 -
Has anybody checked out Sky Broadband?
We are curently looking into bundling our internet/phone service at home.
Every comparision site I look at does not mention Sky Broadband, yet it appears to be significantly cheaper than the likes of BT, Talk Talk et al.
We have been with PIPEX for some years now and have always got a good service, however our recent investigations have identifed a monthly saving of £15/month based upon the SKY Max package (heavy usage) including unlimited anytime UK calls.
I am missing something or is it because the offer is so new?
Would appreciate comments0 -

Having read on the DigitalSpy forums here, it appears that it's possible that Sky maybe blocking websites.
Two websites that don't appear to work for those on Sky's bb are www.cnn.com and www.projectpsp.com, whilst those, like me, accessing the websites via other ISPs have no problems.
This maybe related to content filtering software or something that Sky supply with their broadband, or Sky themselves may unknowingly be blocking them, or it is a routing issue. I doubt its the latter one though.0 -
Please can we have some find feedback on using sky broadband basic. How reliable is it and is it easy to self install? Thanks0
