Stealing photographs or text on eBay - dishonest or merely lazy?

I too have copied parts of text and even a picture (when a problem with my computer prevented me downloading images from my camera). I agree with bluenose I have more important things to do than spend hours researching products for their description.
You can think what you like about me, I do not have to justify my honesty or integrity to a forum on MSE!!!0 -
But its your ebay listing, You cant do it yourself,
well you know what it says a lot for the person doing it,COMPETITIONS - 2010 Cushelle Koala, Shirt from Simply Colours, £10.00 Iceland Voucher, Grand Designs Live Tickets x4, Babee Pre-Paid Card, Wii Game, 7night's Holiday, Book x2, Bic Razor0 -
A favourite tactic of lazy sellers. I always report any I see using mine, and they get pulled. (I have a number of recurrent items so I notice when I relist). Not very time economical or financially economical then.
I only buy and copy text from people like myself who only have the odd item to sell on ebay, like me they probably have better things to do than check their sold item.
You know what they say about imitation.
Glad I am not in Iran I would have been stoned to death by now.

but I don't really see it as a problem.
Most of the time I am writing in a vast amount of description, measurements etc. and I couldn't give a damn if anybody wants to copy that.
In fact they can use my photos if they want, its no skin off my nose...
OP you have a very specific and strange problem relating to this and your daughter has been unlucky, I hope you get it sorted but remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
I copy pics all the time, but always 'googled' ones, released by the company, often for electrical goods. I then describe the condition and would only put an original photo up if it was significant damage or on a screen etc.
If it's an item of clothing that isn't new or an item that doesn't have an official released photo, I will take my own pics.
I wouldn't steal a personal photo that looks like I've taken it myself
I also steal text, but not the whole thing, just useful little phrases etc, but it's then re-written
Your daughter should be fine, just send a last message saying that she is not in any way affiliated with any other accounts and this is the last contact she will be sending and that she will now be blocking the address/username. If this person has any other accounts and starts harassing, pass everything straight onto Ebay

Still can't see any problem in copying private sellers completed listings.
I really hope you annoy the wrong person and get sued for IP violations.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

just the same as tax evasion, embezzlement, insurance or benefit fraud does not 'hurt anyone' either?
it is about the principle of morals, of which you appear to have none at all.0 -
I feel like i dont want to post in some of these thread's on MSE anymore, after reading this thread it feels to me that people are being attacked for being honest... i think people need to think about how they reply to each other and if you dont agree with what the person's doing say so politely instead of attacking each other, i read this thread last night and when i signed off the pc it was still going round in my head... Ive also come across this in other thread's on here... Im sure Martin never created MSE for people to be made to feel uncomfortable!!!!
just because the majority of people on here seem to think that theft is wrong on any level, dont let that cloud your judgement of the entire site.0 -

"I'm a private seller. I only buy the odd thing to resell to top up my JSA".
After all, how much time could they be saving if they're only listing a handful of private items, as opposed to a business-viable amount?Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
