Stealing photographs or text on eBay - dishonest or merely lazy?

Still can't see any problem in copying private sellers completed listings. They have sold their item, I have saved time on listing. What is harm in that.QUOTE]
Just because a listing has ended it doesn't mean the original seller won't be using it again. I listed an item which didn't sell so decided to wait a week or so before trying again then there it was on another sellers account - word for word, picture for picture (although not for long!!). Also some sellers have more than one of the same item so just because one has ended/sold doesn't mean they won't be listing another.0 -
My opinion is that people copy other sellers photos or description out of laziness .
It is so easy and tempting to simply grab an existing photo online.
The cure for picture thieves is to watermark or put a logo on your picture.
In this way, it cannot be stolen without been easily detected.0 -
See example photo one of my guys use on ebay with watermark logo/label i designed for them.
Surely, this would solve the problem of photo thieves!!!0 -

I would only copy the wording of an item that had been sold and there was obviously only one of. For example I sold my one of my son's toys recently and used the description of the one a private seller had sold before Christmas. I think the vast majority of sellers like me, not including those who use ebay as a business would only have one item to sell for a second hand item. I always check the completed listings first and if I thought it was someone who had more than one to sell I wouldn't copy their description. eg if they were power sellers.
I could see a reason to be annoyed if it was affecting anyone's sales eg if I was copying a live listing, or one likely to recur.
I couldn't care less if anyone copied one of my completed listings.Money SPENDING Expert0 -

Two days ago I noticed another seller using my image complete with my username across it. Needless to say it was reported and ebay removed their listing within 4 hours, unluckily for them as they had several bids on it and it had less than 12 hours to go. I bet those buyers now think there is something dodgy about that seller that they had their listing pulled.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Get some for me too will you, this thread reminded me to check my own listings and yep, once again someone is using my photos complete with my username across them d'uh!
Is there a quick way to check - or do you just have to search eBay for the items you're selling and look at every single auction?0
