Honestly surprised that people object to copying completed listings, Who is it actualy hurting? Not the seller of the original item as they have sold theirs, I wouldn't copy from someone who has several items of the same item to sell. Doesn't bother any of my buyers. I have 100% feedback on over 350 items.
Could understand if I was copying "live" listings.
I just find it gives me more time to do the things I want to, and do all the home baking my family are so fond of.

They'd probably like to do some nice home baking too, but they had to write their descriptions.

As you can see from the OP of this thread it can cause problems, and not just for you.

Like I said earlier, I'm a bit less bothered than some by pics, but if I saw several identical listings I would assume that the seller was using lots of accounts to fall under the business radar.
I often report people for pretending to be private sellers when they are not, so yeah it can hurt someone else.

If I worked out you weren't the same user then I'd see that you really can't be bothered to spend time sorting stuff out, so that would put me off.
I like to know where people fall on the dim scale before I buy so I can see how much trouble they'll be, and using someone elses description doesn't help me decide.

Not being funny, but your family liking home baking comes way down the list of my priorities, and I like to think that my sellers have took flaws in the item etc seriously.

You don't have to use ebay if you don't have the time, there are even other sites who have preset descriptions and photos. (Amazon etc.)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
  • I once used someone else's photo from a completed listing, due to my camera being lost at the time but contacted the seller first to check if it was ok. I've also had people ask me if they can use my pics. Not everyone is dishonest with it..

Good point, actually- I bought a dress from a seller very cheaply and it didn't fit.
I used their photo after asking for (and getting :p) permission.
Better than a return and refund for both of us.

By the way, why does your name go !!!!!!!! when quoting?
Must be some swearword I guess, but I've never heard of it. :rotfl:

I agree with some of the points made above. If I see a seller with say a 'stock' photo from google images my brain automatically tells me 'scammer' as it means they don't have the item in their hands. If I see a seller with an image I can see they have lifted from someone else (and th eperson who took my images 2 days ago still had my user name on them, du'h) I also assume they are up to no good, once I think that about a seller it takes a lot for me to trust them enough to buy.

If someone has the goods and are an honest seller why would they use someone elses photos, what else are they going to try on me if i buy?

If a seller can not be bothered to script their own description and steals/borrows/shares other sellers images, what does this suggest about their overall integrity and level of service?

I think it is a sad state of the nation that so many people think it is perfectly acceptable to leach the hard work and effort of others.

    .

Are you getting vertigo up there on your 'high horse' only you're looking a bit pale? ;)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with either my overall integrity and my level of service is exceptional, thank you, I just can't see the point of wasting time typing out something that is already out there and as I have said before, please, go ahead, use anything of mine you wish.

I have been selling my nao figurines this week, I just looked at completed sold listings from private sellers and mainly used their text, though not photos.

As a working mum with 3 kids, I don't see the point in re-inventing the wheel. I have better things to do than research my product and devise new text. Though I like to think I could string a sentence together if I really wanted to. Lazy or time economical????

What about the working Mum with 3 kids who researched and typed out her descriptions? Dont you think her time is/was precious too? Wouldn't you think she wouls prefer to spend a few more minutes with her children rather than type out descriptions for you to steal??

People like you are a disgrace to our society.
