I have been selling my nao figurines this week, I just looked at completed sold listings from private sellers and mainly used their text, though not photos.

As a working mum with 3 kids, I don't see the point in re-inventing the wheel. I have better things to do than research my product and devise new text. Though I like to think I could string a sentence together if I really wanted to. Lazy or time economical????

A favourite tactic of lazy sellers. I always report any I see using mine, and they get pulled. (I have a number of recurrent items so I notice when I relist). Not very time economical or financially economical then.

  • It is lazy. We could all justify that we have better things to do. In most cases do I think that it is that bad, no. It wouldn't bother me if someone copied my listing as long as a buyer was not mislead. If I had spent a long time on a listing it probably would bother me.

I think that as the OP has highlighted that it can have repercussions though.

People like you are a disgrace to our society.

You have got to be having a laugh.
A disgrace to our society!!!!! You must lead a very sheltered life.
Still can't see any problem in copying private sellers completed listings. They have sold their item, I have saved time on listing. What is harm in that.
Crikey its a quick ebay listing, not a work of art. Though obviously some of you think it is.
Anyway each to their own priorites, mine is NOT spending time unneccesarily. Must go, I have made some lemon drizzle cake and Bun Loaf for my husband and kids.
Good luck with your ebay masterpieces.

I'm guessing you have bought the ingredients yourself, or did you just ask all the neighbours for their leftovers if it is too much like hard work to go to the shops?

I've got plenty of time to go the shops thanks, as do not believe in wasting my time.

I think there is a term for something that feeds off anothers' efforts or resources, or takes things without permission.

But if you are happy with being labelled as such, then who are any of us to stop you.

  • There is a lot of aggression in this thread towards a tactic which appears to be saving time. Don't forget, time is money, and this is the MSE website.

I can save myself money on a new TV by stealing yours, but that's not exactly the MSE way.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Where does one draw the line between what is acceptable theft and unacceptable theft?

Moneysaving does not have to equal fraud.
