Well done Chimera, my spring onions and sweet bell pepper have started growing too - these are both inside on my windowsill but the lettuce which i put outside in a pot is not doing anything. What should i do? Its been about 3 weeks now.
Also when should i move my spring onions and sweet bell peppers outside?

Spring onions can go outside now but lettuce should be brought in or put under cover/

Are you doing leaves or whole lettuces?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

My spring onions are in a pot on my windowsill, should I move the pot or replant them in the garden?
It is lettuce leaves that I have - I will bring them inside and fingers crossed they will start to grow. Thanks lynzpower.

  • Can anyone tell me what I can plant outside now or a bit later? I have very limited window sill space but space for plant pots outside and a veg plot 6 x 12 feet. In previous years I have grown radishes, beans and courgettes but I would like to try something else. And no one in the family is very keen on lettuce!

Afternoon all - very excited newbie here!

We've got a medium sized garden which is pretty much all grass, however this year we've decided to get on with it and turn it into a proper garden! We've dug a veggie patch and bought one of those 4-tier greenhouse thingies from Wilko, and got a load of seeds!

So far we've sown peas and spring onions outside, and inside we've got cucumbers, tomatoes and sweetcorn, with some peppers and rocket still to sow. Have ordered the Dig In seeds too. Not entirely sure what we're doing but we're going to give it a go!

Been to B&M today and got loads of gardening bargains, including 2 potato grow bags so hopefully will have some potatoes soon! Oh and a couple of blueberry and raspberry plants too. It'll be just like the Good Life :p

    Well, we've cracked on today!!

Greenhouse is up, and the veg patch has been dug. The rhubarb is really starting to take off. I've sowed onions (red and white) and have put the raspberry canes in. The spuds are going in next Friday.

I'm about to sit and make a load of pots out of old newspaper, then I'm sowing seeds and putting them in the greenhouse - chillis, tomatoes, courgettes and salad.

So it's all good here in sunny Northants!

I noticed B and M had a load of gardening stuff and seemed very cheap too, didn't have chance look properly but will call in tomorrow and have a proper look. Could do with some garden fleece. if not I will try Wilko. The 4 tier greenhouse thingies seemed great value in there and I should get one really. Would have got fleece off eBay but don't think will be here in time!! Been a great day here in Staffs too mostly very sunny, the forecast snow seems like an age away!!

I got some excellent fleece from B&M a few weeks ago, but all sold out now in this area. So have had some from Poundland, not as thick as B&M but still a bargain at 8m x 1m for £1 I think.
  • Thanks gillian62 I'll look in my local B and M first. A quid, that's a bargain
