You can put them out now.( i think) If they are likely to get chomped by birds get some netting over them to deter

If they have been inside then don't forget to harden them off before planting out

  • ooh I'm really excited! I bought 3 'ready steady grow' windowsill kits from Poundland last week - coriander, dwarf bean and sweet basil. I have so little window sill space in my flat, I've had to chance it and plant loads of stuff outside, but these pots were ideal, as they're about the size of a medium size coffee cup, so they were tall and narrow enough to fit in to a very small space. All I had to do was stick the seeds in the compost, water it a bit and then put the lid on top. I haven't had to water them all week as the lid kept the moisture in, and I've got seedlings already in all three - and the dwarf bean seedlings have done really well - about 2 inches high already.

    now that's what I like - cheap, and a quick result :-)

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Just read the long range weather by metcheck and they are forecasting snow here (Bolton) on Monday and tuesday. So please beware putting out anything that will shrivel in the cold

Thanks buggalugs - I've just checked too and it's rain and sleet forecast for where I live in East Anglia on Tuesday evening :(

Just checked the 5 - 8 day forecast and it says -1 and -2 degrees next Wednesday and Thursday nights.

    Morning all

This afternoon I'm going to sow some more spinach and more peas, also going to transplant my chilli & pepper seedlings into individual pots.

I also think I need to re-pot my tomato seedlings into individual pots as they are getting very leggy but on the packet it says to re-pot them after 4 weeks when its only been just over two weeks since I sowed them. Anyone got any thoughts on this please? I saw on GW last night that Toby was re-potting his, but his seedlings seemed much sturdier than my little 'uns! I also stroked them like he said to do and some of them keeled over :(

If I do re-pot them do I need to bury them up to the first leaves?? I seem to remember someone saying on here that makes them get a better root system.

    Happy growing everyone :D
