The Orange / T-mobile merger hasn't happened yet, and it probably won't be until next year that they're fully merged. BUT, T-mobile had already agreed a deal to merge masts & bandwidth with 3, which is due to go live in October. That should up the signal strength until the Orange masts join the happy party.0 -
HTC DISAGREES WITH APPLE’s Actions
The T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition by HTC was the first 3.5-inch color touch screen smartphone in the United States in 2002
Seattle – March 17, 2010 – HTC Corporation today outlined its disagreement with Apple’s legal actions and reiterated its commitment to creating a portfolio of innovative smartphones that gives consumers a variety of choices. Founded in 1997 with a passion for innovation and a vision for how smartphones would change people’s lives, HTC has continually driven this vision by consistently introducing award-winning smartphones with U.S. mobile operators.
“HTC disagrees with Apple’s actions and will fully defend itself. HTC strongly advocates intellectual property protection and will continue to respect other innovators and their technologies as we have always done, but we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation as a healthy way for consumers to get the best mobile experience possible,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation. “From day one, HTC has focused on creating cutting-edge innovations that deliver unique value for people looking for a smartphone. In 1999 we started designing the XDA and T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition[ii], our first touch-screen smartphones, and they both shipped in 2002 with more than 50 additional HTC smartphone models shipping since then.”
The industry has recognized HTC’s contributions through a variety of awards including Fast Company’s 2010 Top 50 Most Innovative Companies and MIT Technology Review’s 2010 50 Most Innovative Companies. The GSMA also recently awarded the HTC Hero as the “Best Phone of 2009.” Some of HTC’s technology firsts include:- First Windows PDA (1998)
- First Windows Phone (June 2002)
- First 3G CDMA EVDO smartphone (October 2005)
- First gesture-based smartphone (June 2007)
- First Google Android smartphone (October 2008)
- First 4G WIMAX smartphone (November 2008)
“HTC has always taken a partnership-oriented, collaborative approach to business. This has led to long-standing strategic partnerships with the top software, Internet and wireless technology companies in the industry as well as the top U.S., European and Asian mobile operators,” said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC America. “It is through these relationships that we have been able to deliver the world’s most diverse series of smartphones to an even more diverse group of people around the world, recognizing that customers have very different needs.”

Any updates on the stock situation with various networks for the htc desire.
I discussed with tmobile today but they couldnt give a guaranteed date for delivery and said upto 14 days delivery time for htc desire.
Three now have given me a new delivery date for tuesady the 11 may. apparently they are getting more stock on the 8th may saturday and will send it on monday 10th may for delivery on 11th tuesday. But looks like demand is high and stocks are low even now for this phone and they were trying to wiggle out of giving me the desire on one of my contracts and just deliver one to me instead of two, but after speaking to the chaps on 333 then the manager and they d/w senior manager and what not ultimately they agreed new date and gave me 100£ discount for one of my orders for inconvenience caused to me in last 18 days due to their goofups with the orders. Now to wait and see if they actually deliver the phones to me on the 11th because according to their system they supposedly have already delivered a phone to me , something which they never did or i wouldnt have been after them for a new PAC code again today.
AFter speaking to the manager and arguing that since it was thye who didnt fulfill both the orders placed on the 15th for the desire, they now cant backtrack on orders made 18days ago, then they relented. i wasnt looking for the additional discount of £100 but wasnt about to say no to it when they offered it!
Getting it for the same monthly price that the originally agreed on the 15th of april for both my orders. now just waiting to see if they actually deliver as promised umpteen times.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
I cannot comment as I got mine SIM free from Amazon. They have them in stock there and then you can choose who you go with.
I wouldn't put up with a network operator making promises they can't keep.0 -

i am !!!!ed off with the goof ups with three regarding my orders for 2 desire phones made on the 15th, but i have to see whats suitable to me as well. I want both my phones to be on the same network as calling between both phones will be cheaper / free. better for me to negotiate upgrade deals come contract renewal time as they lose two paymonthly contracts if i dont get a decent deal.
compared to £399 for only phone via amazon or expansys, if my phones get delivered now on the 11th as promised (for the umpteenth time a full 26 days after initial order) i still get a decent deal for the rest of my contract hopefully from a cost point of view. (20£ a month for 18m contract = £360. plus 50£ (after £100 discount for delays and goofups with my orders) for one phone and 150£ for another phone. so one 18m contract will cost 410£ for 18m and another will cost £510 for 18m contract ie 22.8£ a month and £28.33 a month for the other as net cost for 1100mins mix and match plus 300mins 3-3 calls, plus 1gb internet on each of the phones (plus usual three network stuff like skype, WLM, email, voicemail etc) and 4gb card on each phone. plus since i have 2 contracts, on the second contract i get 2000mins extra three to three mins (you dont get this unless one ask for it, i found this out during my last renewal). some others probably might have got better deals but am fed up and want this done with as i have better things to spend time on hopefully.
if this doesnt work and i dont get delivery on 11th then PAC code and move network probably tmobile in view of 3gb limit. i wish other networks had more flexible limits like tmobile then would have considered other networks, although i think vodafone has 1gb limit on some plans, so vodafone might be in the picture too if i dont get the delivery on the 11th may, 2010 i should add certainly because of the goofups at three till now!bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Bubblesmoney,
I am unsure of my web limit on my O2 plan. If it has a FUP. I just use it - A LOT - and never get charged any extra.
I don't live in a house so Mobile Broadband is an absolute godsend to me
At present the Desire is not available on O2 as a contract package but will come out soon I think.

edit: since you are interested in 'mobile' broadband you might like some options that i posted on another thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=32452109&postcount=21bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Thanks. I use my handset for tethering. That is why I am unsure of the FUP on O2. I watch iPlayer and YouTube via this which I know uses a lot of a data. But O2 have never felt my collar about it.0

How would your carrier know if you were using your handset for tethering or as a skype phone? it.s banned in the TOA but how can they check?
I see tmobile have stopped their lowest priced tariffs but are the higher priced ones still actually worth it for what they are?
i mean is a :
£35
18 month contract
£60 handset
900 minutes
500 texts
still a good deal? i never saw what the lower priced ones were offering0
