Yes, this site is blocking it - it's www mobiles co uk with dots between. I'm not sure why it's being blocked out?

I've just been on the phone to T-M and it's a 1gb allowance via Mobiles.

    Right.........

I have spent some time on the phone to T-Mobile from my WigWam about this. It took a bit of effort to get through to the right person but the Numskulls in their offshore call centre didn't know what I was talking about.

I got through to a UK complaints representative who then drafted in a technical person.

I have been told that no matter where you purchase an Android based handset from provided the seller informs T-Mobile that you have an Android handset you should be placed onto the correct data arrangement. 3GB and right speed. If for any reason you discover that you are not T-Mobile will adjust this free of charge.

In my opinion however, you may need to go beyond the idiots offshore who probably think it is additional cost.

They seemed concerned that people were experiencing problems. They may well be taking a look at this thread...

I so wish I lived permanently in Lapland as they don't seem to have stupid offshore centres there for their services.

i tried typing it directly as well and the website doesnt seem to load. i tried many times.

i also tried tmobile website but that seems to be out of action as well for some upgrades.

so i called tmobile sales 08009562208. they said they can take orders for desire but dont have stock and cant confirm delivery date for another week or so till they know when they will get the stock. they said they dont do price match like orange and cant negotiate discounts on advertised price how many ever hand sets one buys from them. they agreed resellers might have cheaper prices. i enquired whether 3gb limit will be the same if tmobile contract bought through reseller, they said yes limit will still be 3gb for the desire.

they were suggesting the 1200mins xnet plus 500text plus (unlimited landline or unlimited tmobile) calls bundle plus 3gb internet for 35£ a month with free phone. they said even if i buy more than 1 phone they cant decrease price but resellers might be selling for less but plan might be the same and internet limit would be the same as well via reseller. need to do some hunting all over again now if 3 doesnt get back to me soon. vodafone for a similar plan was charging 40£ a month via webchat but were offering 2 free dongles with 3gb internet for free (one dongle free each per phone), i wasnt interested in that deal.

Good to see that consumers are taking a stand and I'm happy to have been wrong if the end result is that customers get the 3gb connection covered in the T&Cs.

There must be some sharp practice by resellers which T-Mobile must resolve or they will have Trading Standards breathing down their neck.

There is a live post on T-Mobiles own forum about this now so I suggest you follow the link, register and post.

and post the name/email of any T-Mobile staff who upgrade you to the 3gb for the benefit of other MSErs

My Girlfriend has a HTC hero on Orange so gets 500mb a month of data but has to turn her 'mobile connection' on to connect any part of the phone to this data. When people say that on t-mobile the data connection is always on, does this mean there is not a 'mobile connection' switch or that by dafault it is always on and must be turned off manually if you don't want to be online all the time - thus using up monthly data allowance?

It's like dial up and broadband at home.

The old WAP system was like dial up, whilst you were connected you were being charged.

3g uses a packet data system that only uses allowance when you download something. It is an "always on" system if you want it to be, but the downside of this is automatic refreshes of things like weather app without you knowing, but these will be very small.
Also, if 3g is poor in your area, the battery will drain faster.

It's up to you, but if you have 3g you might as well leave it on.
If nothing is being downloaded, no data is being used AFAIK.

how long is the contract for?
how much did the handset cost?
what is the monthly fee and is it inclusive of VAT?
when did you order? i note that you got delivery yesterday.
did your reseller say you would get 3gb? i am enquiring as the 600xnet plus 3gb internet and unlimited landlines looks like a good deal and i might be interested in that option and ask 3 to stuff their upgrade offer to me as am getting !!!!ed off with their (3 network) upgrade delivery delays and attitude.
