HTC Bravo renamed Desire, released March 26th

I've just called t-mobile and been offered for an upgrade (been with them 18 months, avg spend £32pm) to the HTC Desire for £60 with a contract comprising of 600 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited texts, 18 months for £25pm - do you think I'd be able to get a better deal? Or should I go for it?

T-Mobile have network issues like you won't believe. Currently a massive ongoing saga regarding their 3G coverage, in short, it doesn't work half the time.

If you're in an "excellent" area, is it a built up area? If so it may simply be physical obstruction, in which case you'd be better off on O2 or Vodafone, they use lower frequencies. IIRC t-mobile/orange are somewhere in the region of 1900MHz and o2/voda have 850MHz. Signal penetrates solid objects better at lower frequencies So they will always have better in-building coverage.

Just called to play the game a little. Wasn't expecting much.

Currently on a cashback combi 35 @ £35pm (think its worked out at about £35 for the year after cashaback!) (500mins 375 sms) but I use nowhere near, so was looking for 300mins/300sms and that's still a little generous (calmed down on the texting etc in my old age).

I thought a good deal would be wanting free phone 300mins/300sms + net + bolt on for £20pm 18months.

Went on hold for 2 or 3 mins while the kid went away to see what he could do. Two options.

a) Free phone - 18 months - 300min/300sms + unlim net + bolt on = £20pm

b) Free phone - 24 months - 300min/300sms + unlim net + bolt on = £10pm

I didn't really want to do a 24 month deal @ 20-25pm, but personally I think the 24 month deal I was offered was pretty brilliant, so I took it.

Sat here in shock really.

Is this for the desire? Thats pretty incredible considering the handset is worth £400 and the contract is costing £240 - They are paying you to provide you with the service!!

I assume this was with T-Mobile and the handset was the Desire??? That means a total spend with them of £240 over 2 years on a handset costing double that...it was definitely the Desire right?

Does seem a bit too good to be true. Even talking them out of a £20 discount on the handset it's half the price of the deal on their website (£15x24 + £109)
£19.54/month.

I'm on T-Mobile pay as you go.
I pay £10 a month. So long as I top up at least that amount each month, I get free texts and free 'unlimited' data for the following month. I don't talk much on the phone so £10 is more than enough for chat. And but 'unlimited', it means the standard stipulation for data from most networks - don't remember the number exactly.

Again, no contract. Perfect.

Yeah TMobile (been with them 1 year) and the Desire (now you've made me doubt it lol).

He said the phone's not out till tomorrow and I'll probably recieve it Tuesday - so it must be the Desire yeah!?!? :think:

It wouldn't surprise me having worked in sales for a number of years some of the tricks kids pull to get themselves a bit of commission thinking they can get away with it and talk themselves out of it. I have literally heard it all! The rule of thumb is if it sounds to good to be true it probably is

I'd call them straight back and double check EVERYTHING if i were you
