Hi,
I called t-mobile earlier this month to cancel my contract (having been with them on a £30pm tarriff for 18 months), as I thought an iphone would suit my needs. However I have just found out about the HTC Desire and think that it would be a far wiser choice. Do you think t-mobile would offer me some sort of deal if I called to cancel my cancellation? Or do I not have a leg to stand on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated0 -
If u read thru this thread, I think u can see there are some deals around. Look at the link given above http://www.best-mobile-contracts.co....TC-Desire.aspx.., it gives some good deals even 18 month ones.., and sure u can negotiate downwards when phoning T-mobile armed with this information. I'd just phone them and say u may stay with T-mobile if u are able to get the Desire under a decent contract (and quote the mobile.co.uk ones). The more useful advice seems to be keep calling til u get the deal u want lol. If I wasn't with another network til 10th May, I'd be burning the phone wires calling T-mobile myself.
Whether the Desire is a better choice than the Iphone, I think to some degree it depends on what u want to do with the phone. To my mind, the Desire spec is better than the Iphone (my son decided to go with the iphone tho but I think a lot of the 'Iphone is better' audience is fairly young and more susceptible to advertising and 'name' gimmicks rather than comparing specs etc).
The Iphone does have more apps for it.., but well, how many do u need lol.., Android apps number in the tens of thousands and being open source, there's a lot more potential for future development.
The Iphone OS/user interface does not have much in the way of flexibility, whereas Android is open source so it can be changed as u desire with apps.

There are some apps mentioned that I am drooling over lol. I am one of those who are sick of using voice mail, so getting a mailed transcript of a message sounds brilliant. Defo one of the first apps I will install lol.
To me, there's just no competition altho I am certain others will disagree.0 -

Two reasons spring to mind without even trying hard....
1. Orange are !!!!
2. T-Mobile data = 3GB, Orange = 500MB(?)
+1
Been with Orange for 4 years (2 x 24 month contracts) and the service is very poor.
They boast about the best network coverage but even in the stated "Excellent" areas my signal dropped from full to nothing for no reason causing my calls to drop out and miss endless messages.
All customer service do is blame my phone (i have had about 6 different phones over the 4 years…and 2 new sim cards)
Other people i work with have the same issues - It will be a refreshing change to go over to t-mobile (bit gutted if this t-mob + Orange merge happens)0 -
lol, yes I agree.., if I can, I will find a third party mobile phone company to sign up with. I think mobile.co.uk said that their phones come without the orange interface and are unlocked.., CPW are the same.0

Tmobile have taken payment from my credit card today. Guess they intend to be true to their promise for Friday/Saturday.0

1. Orange are far from !!!!. They provide some of the best customer service ive experienced from any company and ive had zero problems with the network
2. This could be a problem for a heavy user who cant tap into home or work wi-fi. It roughly works out to be 16MB usage per day. If you generally only use it during your commute or down the pub and have access to home or work broadband then chances are you'll be fine. If your a heavy downloader then T-Mobile wins hands down
Also Orange are redoing the internet side of some Tariffs supposedly at the end of the month. Whether this happens then and means an increase in the 500MB cap or not i really dont know but fingered crossedComp wins 2010 (Feb onwards) - loads of books, CD, Toys, Photographic lighting rig, Mobile phone, 16GB ipod Nano, Digital cameraComp wins 09 - £4500, 08 - £345.70!0 -
Wonder if testing means testing, or means Orange are trying to hiss around with the firmware and give you lots of links to the orange site you don't need or want and generally wreck the handset?
Probably, they mentioned about making sure it was compatable with their own softwareComp wins 2010 (Feb onwards) - loads of books, CD, Toys, Photographic lighting rig, Mobile phone, 16GB ipod Nano, Digital cameraComp wins 09 - £4500, 08 - £345.70!0
