Placed an order with t-mobile this morning at 9.30. So far, nothing... can't say I'm really impressed with the service. We'll see.

Looking forward to ditching the Tom Tom.

Hi there. I've been out of contract since December.

Was it actually retentions you were dealing with? Might be an idea now to look for one of the other deals on another network that you would be happy with, go back to T-mobile tell them you wish to leave and want your pac number, then after you get shunted through to retentions tell them your leaving because you can get the better deal elsewhere and see what they say. Personally if you could get that deal you was offered for 18 rather than 24 months for around £30 i'd say it was good. You may need to drop the mins you expect to get if they dont budge
Comp wins 2010 (Feb onwards) - loads of books, CD, Toys, Photographic lighting rig, Mobile phone, 16GB ipod Nano, Digital camera

    Comp wins 09 - £4500, 08 - £345.70!

I definitely think you can get more. I was on flext 35 too and got 25ppm, 18 months contract (free phone, unltd texts/internet/600 mins) thru retentions. Apparently I could have pushed for 20 ppm because some people did and got the phone for free on a 20 ppm, 18 month contracts (unlimited texts/internet/300 mins).

EDIT: someone on the xda forum got 15 ppm, 18 months contract, free phone, 300 mins, unltd texts/data thru retentions so yeah, I think you could have pushed for more. Just hang up and talk to a different adviser but be nice. It makes me wonder though whether TMob is making a loss with all these cheap deals lol

I think so. I asked to cancel and was put through to a department. I am happy to drop the minutes, I need around 700-800, so I can go lower than the 900. I am going to ask for a PAC tbh, if they ask me if there is anything they can do then I'll let them know but I've been faffing about with this for too long now and just want a conclusion.

Yeah I saw that 600 minutes deal and was going to quote it. I would be happy with that although really and truly I would only be comfortable with a 700 minute minimum as that is my average use. I'm not the best talker but I'll have another crack tonight and let you know how I get on....but it looks like I may have to leave....
  • ^ My friend was offered rubbish deals at first thru retentions. He hung up and called again and got a much better deal. There are definitely inconsistencies in the retentions department so call a few times and talk to different advisers. To be sure, call 150, then 5 then follow the instructions (the "thinking of leaving T Mobile option" which will then go straight to retentions). Say you wanna leave because you were offered pretty bad deals and that you know of some people who got excellent deals but I believe if you talk nicely to them they will budge eventually.

Thanks BunifahLatifah, I'm going to try once more and see how it goes.....I'll update once I have.

Shame really, my last three bills aren't far off in £300 in total and I regularly went £45/50+p/m throughout the duration of the contract.....I would have thought this would put me in the 'highly valued' bracket but who knows how they judge?

What do you guys think of this?

    600 minutes
    Unlimited texts
    unlimited internet
    18 months
    30 quid a month?

or buy the phone out right, and stay on a rolling 20 months contract?

To be honest with that kind of spend they should be bending over backwards for you. One thing i would say is if you know your average monthly talktime is 700-800mins DONT go less than 900mins if the next Tariff down is 600mins for the sake of saving a fiver a month. As soon as you go over your minutes in a month by a couple of hundred its going to hurt!

I've just spoken to t-mobile retentions, trying to waive the £95 charge for the 18month 300 mins, 300 texts, £25pm. Firstly the lady kept on saying it's 100 mins, not 300, she then realised it was the £20pm sections she was looking at lol.

I then went on and said, MPD are offering it for only £5.99 with for 18 month contract. I was put on hold whilst she was speaking to manager. Sahe came back and said they could offer me the phone for only £20 but only on 24 month contrarct, I said I was unwilling to go for £24 month, I then asked whey MPD direct can offer for so much cheaper, she said they are 3rd party and are able to do so.

I then asked about the whole requesting PAC/porting procedure. She said if I decide to go on new contract with t-mobile I will lose my number (is this true, I guess one can always port to PAYG and then port back to t-mobile).

Apparently I need to give 30 days notice if I choose to leave.

I'm not happy as a few people have managed to get it cheaper on the 18 month contract. I think it was the contact centre in Wales.

    Any ideas....

Definitely. You should be getting better deals than me! (I've only been with them for 18 months, paying 25 a month). It MIGHT be worth calling in the morning because towards the end of the day, they will have given out so many excellent deals and perhaps are unable to do so anymore (is there some sort of a discount limit these advisers can give in a day? lol)? Good luck!
