Wouldn't be my choice as I'd never agree to a 24 month contract but that aside there's one thing I don't understand.

If you have 900 mins, 500 texts, unlimited net + insurance...what exactly can you use the bolt on for?

Doesn't seem like a bad deal though for ther amout you're paying
    LBM 2 - 27.05.09. Debt was £33224 + 1100:eek: OD.
    Car - was - [STRIKE]20867[/STRIKE] - now - Gone! :T Zopa - was [STRIKE]6800[/STRIKE] -now - Gone loan - was [STRIKE]1687 [/STRIKE]- now Gone! :T Student Loan - was [STRIKE]1850 [/STRIKE] - now gone!! - Barclay Card was -[STRIKE] £2000[/STRIKE] now - Gone OD - was 1100 - now - 900

Been following this thread as we wait for the Desire to be launched. Just been on the phone to Virgin Mobile, as I just moved from Orange to a VM 30 day contract, I asked the CS guy when VM would be selling the Desire and he said from April 1st,p hopefully this is no joke! VM have been pretty good lately with offers on the HTD Hero, so I'm waiting patiently for news!!!

    Hi all.

What do you guys think of this deal, any feedback apreciated.

    HTC Desire, free.
    24 month contract.
    900 minutes
    500 texts
    free bolt-on of choice
    unlimited internet
    insurance

    £31.99 a month

Yay or nay? If yay, how good do you think it is?

It looks like they're offering you a monthly discount of either £5 or £8 (depending on how much they value the handset at on their insurance), and the phone free instead of a £60 one off charge.

I've had a play with this handset today and I have to say I'm really impressed, the phone feels solid and well built, it runs very quickly, apps open almost instantly, the screen is sharp and vivid, the camera is good, definetaly an X10 beater, any questions just ask I'll do my best to answer

Where did you manage to get a play with one?

Cancelled my MPD order and went for the Tmobile direct 24 month £15 deal with unlimited landline booster, even got £20 off the handset so it's cost me £469 in total over 24 months, less than £20 a month for 300 texts, unlimited landline numbers and 3gb internet. Happy or what!

I did the same, but cancelled my pre-order with mobiles.co.uk. Went with T-Mobile and quidco cashback. Well happy with the deal! Works out at £19.54 a month! I would have been willing to pay £35pm for this handset.

Right, thanks for the feedback guys, I've had some time to think about it myself.

    I think nay.

Why not get it down to £25, unless you dont need that many mins and then you could get it lower.

Yeah, the charge for the tariff minus insurance is £25p/m + £95 for the handset. I said I didn't want to pay the £95, so he offered it 'free' for £30p/m. By my calculations that is £25 more over the course of the contract....I may as well pay the £95....

I then mentioned I want to keep the cost at £25p/m maximum because I want to take out insurance as well which will bring it up to £30. He then quoted the deal plus insurance but wasn't willing to knock off the £2p/m and make it £30p/m. I didn't even say I wanted insurance with T-Mobile.....

The bolt ons offer different options.....unlimited texts, unlimited t-mobile to t-mobile etc. They're worth £5p/m and you get one free, I said I didn't want any of them but instead wanted two they charge £2.50p/m each for but they wasn't willing to offer that.

The handset charge is actually £95. I think the insurance is £7p/m and .....from what I can work out, I think they are offering a £4 discount on insurance, that is the only 'deal' they are willing to offer. Given the amount I have spent and how long I have been with them on reflection I feel that even though it isn't a bad deal overall, it's not exactly a deal that is particularly great (certainly not given how much I have spent and how long I've been with them).

I can be flexible on minutes and such if the charge comes down to £30p/m. But given that Vodafone and o2 are offering £160 cashback on sim only deals through quidco and Virgin have a rolling 30 day sim for £18p/m I am not overly desperate to tie myself in for two more years regardless of how good the phone is.

I asked about the HTC Hero and he said it would be exactly the same even though the phone is a year old and available free on the contract I wanted.....I was looking for a lot more off, not to pay the same amount as the Desire!

I think it may be time to cancel.....:(
