HTC Bravo renamed Desire, released March 26th

Any idea when the Desire is gonna get 2.2?
Since no-one knows when FroYo will be released there's no way anyone can give a date.
Google will release Froyo and it will be available alost immeduately on the Nexus 1 as it runs 'vanilla' Android. HTC will then have to take it and add Sense to it and make sure any other HTC specific apps are comaptible and then release it.
However there is one caveat. HTC Hero owners are still awaiting an update from Android 1.5 to a more recent version so there's no guarantee HTC will offer an upgrade. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

Yep, did it a few days ago. Not to say retentions wouldn't still go to that level. The comments are interesting- states they went that way simply because the Desire had been selling massively but too cheaply. Saying that it was an excellent way of trying to get more people to come over to 3.
I kind of wish I'd have caught that deal. £20 for 300mins and texts along with 500MB data and free desire seems good. The nearest to what 3 did is with T-Mobile at £25-ish I think (if you discount Orange due to their messing about with the handset).0 -
I got mine from Orange and it was unlocked and not had anything to do with Orange on it so dont have any crap from Orange on it.0

Called up O2 retention about a new deal where like most of you i have been a 'valued customer'... they offered me
£30p/m
300mins
Unlimited texts
Unlimited data
£50 for the phone
24months
They would not budge on this so i asked for my code, i then found on their website to see the same deal for 18months. Called them back and told them and they said sorry but they couldnt match it... they said sorry they couldnt match deals found with other companies, i explained it was THEIR website i was getting the deal off and again the robot said sorry, lol. I even threatened to pull my broadband off them and it didnt phase them at all.
Have to say O2 have been brilliant over the years but they are playing hardball this time.
Its frustrating as i can only get O2 around here.
Just ordered a load of PAYG simcards from various networks to try them out in the hope their signals have improved.
Not sure what else i an do.0 -

Why dont you phone again and speak to another retentions advisor? They might be able be able to offer something better.0 -

Tried that... Dont really want to phone a 3rd time too quickly as it is bound to be noted iam 'keen' to sort a deal. I have my code now so will wait for the sim cards to arrive, once i try them all i will think about what to do next, if they call inbetween all this to try sort something that would be good0 -
It seems that Google are having trouble shifting the N1 as they've announced that they are going to close the Google shop that was primarily set up to sell the Nexus.
I think HTC have just done such a good job with the desire that most people are going for it rather than the N1.
Being a Desire owner myself, I can see why!0 -

I think it was more a case that Google thought they knew better without consulting how the British public buy items.
Now its going to be in UK shops for us to touch, feel and demo I bet it will sell quite well.0 -
I'm with Orange and my contract can be renewed from 12th June. However I was wondering with the short avaliability of Desires, if it would be worth phoning up now and finding out if I can get the phone on order or something.0

Same deal as I was offered although he said i'd have to pay 15 for the phone. The broadband thing is a bit of a predicament too as you have to be an o2 customer to get it cheaper so i'm thinking if I cancel my contract they will bump my internet price up a bit. Really want a desire but don't want to pay above £25 certainly not for 24 months.0
