Yesterday DH and DS were helping someone move and the people they were helping own a sushi restaurant. Result free sushi for moi, but as an added bonus it came on a very nice tray which shall be reused in someones christmas hamper and in a brown paper bag that was just the right size for my bumper pack of mushrooms from mr t.Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. A few things recently.
Went to a friend's house with a big bag of wool that I had acquired but now hated (mostly mohair). Swapped it (she was delighted with it) and got a lot of purple and cream wool to make my granny square blanket even bigger.
Got a Country Casuals suit in a charity shop for £3.50. With a bit of searching, found the matching blouse in the same shop.
Got a wool mix suit in another CS, but the jacket was too big around the waist. Found a local dressmaker who has just started her business who will take it in for £10. - Supporting local business and getting a lovely suit tailored to fit me for £13 ain't bad.
Recently got a brewing book for Other Half for £2. Apparently it's technical and exactly what he wanted. Mint condition. Costs £12 new.
2 Small trays of lettuce plants from B&Q for 10p. After removing the dead ones, I got 10 plants, now planted up and growing nicely.0 -
The other week two lovely sofas as mine had had their chips, given to me by my friend who is moving to Yorkshire and is getting new ones. I'm still missing one of my old sofas though it was the worlds biggest, most squidy comfortable sofa. I bought her £50 of crocus vouchers as a thank you and she was delighted. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.
