I got a solid wood picket fence for free!! 8 x 6ft panels and a gate and the fence posts.

It was leaning up against the wall on a driveway and we've been walking past it every day for two weeks on our way to take our son to school and I'd said to DH a few times that we should ask them if they're selling it. Well, I finally wrote them a letter saying if they were looking to sell it, we'd love to buy it off them, and I included my phone number. Later that day we got a call on our answer machine saying it's sitting there waiting for her brother to take it down to the tip and if we'd like it by all means come and take it for nothing!

Such a nice lady, I am planning to get her a flower or something to say thank you when we've collected the last of it tomorrow.

this weekend's frugal find (well, thursday's) was my nasturtium seeds and a recipe for "poor man's capers". now they're pickled, in tiny jars and with labels saying "Câpres Rapiat" (meaning stingy or cheapskate capers lol).

Would have bought them regardless of the name. They were reduced from £1.50.

I didn't mean working on you, I meant the rebranding's obviously NOT working as they're now reduced.

I hate the things personally, but DD and mum love them lol.

Yesterday we were walking past the "tip shop" (they sell goods from the dump, that people have thrown away) and there was one of the burn bins that look like a metal dustbin with a lid in the chimney http://www.amazon.co.uk/GALVANISED-GARDEN-INCINERATOR-FIRE-QUALITY/dp/B001URR6O0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317947660&sr=8-1 we were coming home from buying a few new fence posts for that fence we got a few posts above, and I popped in to see how much it was, looked brand new - £5 !!

    Excellent.

We now have a new fence (all up), a big compost bin off freecycle and a new burn bin. Going to be a nice autumn :)

Have been given a brand new and unused casserole dish with lid from my mother in law, not sure why she brought it for in the first place as she doesn't even eat casseroles or anything like that, been sitting in her cupboard fro a few years gathering dust, but her loss is my gain :-)
