I went to a jumble sale yesterday. I have a bum bag which I prefer to wear to jumble sales...leaves my hands free. I was just putting my keys etc into it when I found a £20 note that I'd obviously left in it last sale time. How on earth could I have done that? It's not like I've got so many I don't notice when one goes awol. Still, it was a nice bonus.Val.0

popped into my local charity shop and got a royal sutherland plate with a scene of a horse and rider with hounds for a £1?
Am tempted my another plate but it £7 and a wade whimsy at £5. dont get paid for a week and a half, and when ive asked about somthing slightly damaged they say to come back in a week or so, and am wondering when im paid if theyre their still if i could get a discount, esp as they been their a week or so already?
I do think it's not quite in the right spirit of things to ask for discount in a charity shop. The items are donated to raise money for the charity, the volunteers are giving up their time to help raise money for the charity...it's not like the cash is going to some faceless money grabbing company, it's to help sick kids or animals or medical research or whatever. You don't want to be taking money away from that, surely? Anyway these are luxury items. It's not like you're desperate for a coat for your child or something and only have one last £5 note in your purse. I could cope with someone asking for a discount if they themselves desperately needed help.Val.0 -

i asked for a discount on a piece of furniture in a charity shop as i only had a set amount on me and no bank card with me at the time, as i said i'll take it away today (which then cleared a considerable floor space for them) i got it with an extra 20% off.
and tbh the amount i've bought/donated to them over the years i don't see it as being too cheeky, more like enterprising, as i'd NEVER have been able to afford anything like it new and as they got it free from a house clearance..... they made 100% profit on it anyway

Loads of blackberries, plums, apples and cherries thanks to the local park!
Saw a pair of curtains at a car boot fair a while ago. I was looking for some for the living room but was not sure if they would fit. They are lined and keep the room really warm. Bought them for £4 and they fit perfectly - bargain!Make 2019 in 2019: £1350/20190 -
My mum was having a book clearout, so I got a few of her books I've had my eye on for a while lol.
and also, she handed me a book all about coffee, nudged me, winked and said "I reckon Jules would love this with some good coffee" (sister in law, married to other half's brother); so now all I need to get is the coffee, and complete the caffetierre warmer I've been working on.starjumper wrote: »My frugal find. 80p for 4 filleted Cornish sardines from Tesco.
