Went shopping in Darlington yesterday and the X Catalogue Shop had a pair of lovely grey trousers - last of a line - in my size for £1, original catalogue price £14.99. A lined jacket in a virtually identical shade of grey was £3.49, original cat. price £34.99. So I got a £50 brand new 'suit' for less than a fiver!

I do love the X Cat. shops, they look very unpromising from the outside, but the rails hide some fantastic and stylish bargains. (To be fair, they also have items that make your jaw drop ... bright orange women's size 38 jeans with gold trim, anyone? 58F bra???)

I found a pair of obviously well-loved wire cutters on the way home from ASDA. Looked around for a possible owner but the street was empty, mine now. On the down side, I lost my favourite pin badge on Wednesday that was pinned on my work bag ("Warning: Government induced terror!" - I work for the council, it was appropriate) so easy come easy go. Someone found a funny badge - I found some wire cutters.

Blackberries - we visited my sister who lives on a private road the side opposite the houses is wooded and there are loads of blackberries. Me and my dad went blackberrying, it is years since we went blackberrying together and he is still the champion blackberry picker! Came away with a big box full. My sister said that they just go to waste, no one picks them, might go back for more this week. My family love blackberry and apple crumble.
