What frugal find came your way today?

  • OH and I have had an exceptionally frugal day today. Both sets of parents have given us old curtains to deck out our new house with, which we were pleased with in the first place. OH's parents have given us some barely used carpet from their loft for us to re-do our dining room in! Yay!

My Grandad died a couple of months ago and my parents are in the process of clearing out his bungalow and said there were things going spare that we may find useful for our new home. After arriving home this weekend, today we were given; a Kenwood Chef (with many accessories including blender and mincer), a pressure cooker, loaf tins, selection of cook-books/gardening books and a huge selection of gardening tools!

OH and I am thrilled to bits, and I'm sure my Grandad would be pleased that they'll all be going to a loving home.

Friday dh came home with 3 walls vienetta's, (he works in a biccy factory and they have a company shop). The staff sometimes give him things that would otherwise be binned despite there being nothing wrong with them!. So the kids where happy as its something I would never buy...!

Today I dug out an old table cloth that was the wrong size for our table and made myself 3 new shopping bags so I am feeling very frugal !

Today I picked up a gorgeous book on freegle that will be a lovely gift for our new baby nephew. :)
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • A large box of "stuff" from my dd who was having a clear out. The clothes all went to my neighbour (too small for me) lots of toiletries to add to my stash, (which doesn't seem to be getting any smaller) and some lovely bits of costume jewellary which I will keep.

    fab!:)

My parents gave us a christmas tree yesterday.

We used to have a real one - but the price doubled this year from last year so this will make much more MSE sense :)

A tonne of decs and lights with it too :T

A red rubber band the postman dropped on our doorstep.
I put 2 x free supermarket bags in the small size bins as it is bin day and all house bins have to be emptied.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

LOL . Its been a good frugal day today. The pedometer this morning and this afternoon the man in the village shop sold me some items cheap , must be the sunshine! I also recycled some dried flowers into a new arrangement at home and ordered some DVDs off Am***n which are reduced. :jBUT this has broken my "NO books or DVDs in March pledge. oh dear.:o
