Idiots on the motorway!

The outside lane is closest to the barriers. Unless you were overtaking you shouldn't have been anywhere near it.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

The op shouldn't have been in the middle lane either if it was at night with no traffic.Saturday night we were just past Snakes Pass (Sheffield area) on the motorway.
I recon this is a driving in the middle thing which the op shouldn't have been doing!0 -
Me too. I HATE middle lane hoggers :mad:I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Blimey if someone was flashing their lights at me and I was doing 70mph in the middle lane I would think omg I should be in the inside lane and move over asap.
NOT pull out into the outside lane still doing 70mph, probably making people in that lane brake sharply to avoid going into the back of me.0 -
I find going in the left lane, going right across to most right lane, then pulling infront of the middle laner, and going straight across, normally gives a hint. (does not always work).0

Yeah I've done that before. If there's no traffic about (possible police cars) I'll just overtake in the left lane! Sometimes thats happend and another cars overtaken in the right lane. You' think a driver being overtaken on both their left and right might give a hint as to they're in the wrong lane!0 -
I thought they might have been trying to bully us into pulling over so they could rob us but that would've only worked if we were on the inside lane surely?
Yep. It was 3 lanes!
Op, you were driving in the wrong lane! Drive on the inside lane unless you are overtaking. An ironic thread title seeing it was you who was in the wrong!!!0 -
Isn't this missing the point? Whether OP was right or wrong in driving in whatever lane, the driving described is inexcusable and, on any analysis, dangerous.0

I hope you made a note of his Reg No and have reported it to the actual police so they can look into it and keep an eye out for him? I'd like to think they would take impersonating a police car pretty seriously (unless on the off chance that he was actually an unmarked police car, but using an old Galaxy I'd guess this would be unlikely)
Unfortunately I didn't get chance, I was just stunned by their driving!0 -

But then having to drive across all three lanes to overtake one car can be danderous as well. Thats why you should stick to the inside lane unless overtaking.
If the op moved to the correct lane when originally flashed I doubt this would have happend. I think this happend due to the fact the op not only didn't move to the correct lane but infact went into the outside lane!0
