Idiots on the motorway!

Any idea on what these idiots were planning would be greatly appreaciated as we are at a loss:

Saturday night we were just past Snakes Pass (Sheffield area) on the motorway minding our own business (doing exactly 70mph trying to save money) on our way to Great Yarmouth when some idiot in an Audi S5 drives right up our a*se flashing his lights on and off constantly for a minute or so. Thinking that maybe he had something wrong with his car we moved over to the outside lane to let him pass. Just as we did this a white transit van appears infront of us, a silver one behind us and the w*nker in the audi next to us in the middle lane trying to talk us into winding our window down and distracting us while the transit vans blocked us in.

Anyway we realised what was going on put our foot down and managed to get out just in time, two minutes later all three go darting past and start picking on some other poor !!!!!! in the front. Didn't quite manage to get the reg's but phoned the police all the same.

Anyone have any idea what was going on? I thought they might have been trying to bully us into pulling over so they could rob us but that would've only worked if we were on the inside lane surely? Also, we weren't in a nice car or anything, just an old Mazda 323.

When we spoke to the police they said it was happening quite a lot around the country- whatever you do DO NOT OPEN YOUR WINDOW if it happens to you, just do your best to get away, we got the impression he was going to throw something into the car if we did.

  • One way to treat these muppets is as follows: -

1 Lift foot off the accelerator. This reduces rapidly distance between muppet and thou, causing muppet to wake up and brake.

2 If the current Lady Snowbitts is in motor, she gets mobi out and pretends to take photo.

    3 Normality restored.

Don't race muppet, it always better to see them at the next junction just a car infront!

We couldn't really slow down they were THAT close behind us, pretty sure the loverly audi s5 was stolen and they wouldn't care anyway... nobody would drive their own car like that :s Taking a photo would've been a very very very good idea though... I shall do this if it ever happens again!

Why were you driving in the right lane anyway?

Were you there Mr Lahey, the comment was addressed at the OP.

Usual reasons (apart from idiocy) for someone flashing you, are fog lights on, no lights on, hogging middle lane, flat tyre, cutting someone up, or unmarked police car.

I apologise, ill edit my previous post i thought you were taking a dig at me.

This sounds bizarre! I have never had someone try and "talk" to me on the motorway! The noise of the rushing air would make conversations between vehicles almost impossible.

Sounds like an attempted car jacking to me. Transit in front, transit behind and then pulling up next to you getting you to open your window. As the police said it happens a lot.

I would have thought that a narrower road would make it easier to car-jack as a motorway has too many lanes to make it easy. You would really need at least 4 other vehicles to "box" a vehicle in on a motorway, and even then motorways are pretty busy usually so you are not going to easily do it without drawing attention.

If the OP had been driving an expensive car I could (maybe) understand a car jacking, but s/he was driving a Mazda.

Thats exactly my point, crappy rust bucket car and a man driving an audi wants to take it? we were in the middle of the lane (i wasn't driving by the way) we had a feeling that something odd was going on so we didnt pull into the inside lane because its easier to box someone in when the hard shoulder is there and not just the barriers.

When moved over to the ouside lane (he was literally flashing us every second from normal lights to fog lights) he came up beside us and was literally inches away from our car putting his thumbs up, waving, making that sign you make to get people to wind their window down ect gave them enough time to get one transit van behind and one infront.

Oh and we knew they were together because we saw them after a while pulling into a service station, one transit in front, audi in the middle, other transit behind.

    Bizzar.
