Noisy fridge here too
Rang Samsung who said they would get an engineer to call.
Samsung rang back a few minutes later to say my model was not affected by the fault  RSH1DTMH
Told me to do the 2 hour defrost thing instead.
I did. It worked.
Next day same problem.
Did it again. It worked.
Next day same problem.
Rang Samsung again and they agreed to do the "6 part check/repair" thing, so hopefully engineer will be here Tuesday.
But meanwhile......fridge is hardly cold now (it was fine temperature wise before I followed Samsungs switching off instructions)
Fingers crossed it lasts till the engineer gets here......too scared to switch it off again, in case it stops the freezer bit working too0 -
I'm glad I found this thread. I have one of the Samsung Fridge Freezers which I purchased in 2008. Last week I noticed ice building up inside the fridge, and food in the fridge was starting to turn.
I called Currys as it was still under a service agreement with them. Their engineer came out on Monday and after a quick look inside the fridge he told me the only way to fix it was to defrost the fridge & freezer for 24 hours. I'd never heard such rubbish before as I had been led to believe it was a self defrosting fridge/freezer so no need to defrost it. He made no attempt to look at anything else, just said to defrost it.
I called Samsung for advice but got through to a very rude and unhelpful guy who just said to listen to the engineer.
Having found this thread I'm starting to wonder what to do next. I've lost £300 of food, only £200 I can claim on my contents insurance - but then must pay £100 excess so I get very little for my loss. I'm really concerned about what to do next - do I trust it will work or take matters further?0 -
Further to my last post I've called Samsung again and they will arrange for an engineer to come and do the 6 point check on my fridge/freezer. Its model RSH1NHSW purchased in 2008.
I am so annoyed the Curry's engineer didnt mention any of this to me, surely if its a known problem their engineers should have been aware of the issue too?
Hopefully the engineer will contact me today and will make an appointment asap - I've now been a week without a fridge or freezer and I'm getting fed up now.0 -
Thanks to this forum my fridge freezer is finally fixed
The fault was due to the known Samsung problem and was fixed by the engineer they sent out - after 3 weeks with no fridge the repair took no more than about 20 mins. So annoyed the original engineer clearly knew nothing and his advice cost me dearly. Needless to say I have submitted a complaint to his company.
Thank you once again everyone, its so nice to have fresh milk once again.0 -

Lisa...I am also fed up with getting bad service from the companies that will not do much when their goods go wrong so I have started complaining, by letter, to the Chief Executive or Chairman of the company concerned. It usually gets a result!!0 -
Purchased my Samsung RSE8DZAS1 back in August 2008, it went wrong (helicopter noise, fridge no longer cold) in July 2011 and Samsung repaired it free of charge. All was well until last week when dreaded noise started again so I rang Samsung and they sent someone out who confirmed it was same fault as before, he would order parts and come back to fix it free of charge again.
Great, or so I thought until yesterday when Samsung rang me to say they no longer make parts for this model so could I send them my original purchase receipt, they will make reductions for 4 years usage and make an offer to 'buy me out'.
I can't wait to see how much they offer, a paltry amount I'm sure but how can they just stop making parts for an item that's less than 4 years old?
Not sure where to go with this but fear I'll have a fight on my hands to get a fair deal.0 -
Hi,
I am having the same noisy fridge problem. I am sick of the sight of the thing. I have defrosted it 5 times, changed the thermal sensor, thermal fuse and the evaporator cover. Thought it was all sorted and after 1 week the same problem. Only now I have two error codes, an R-FAN Error and a R-DEF, Heater Error. !!!!!!??? I have now bought a new heater element, but am told it is difficult to fit. But will this work? Any advice more than welcome...........please...............0 -
Hi, I have had this fan freezing problem for a couple of months now and since i defrosted the fan the thing now keeps tripping the RCD on the fuse box, does anyone have any idea's why this is now happening.
Thanks0 -
My fridge part started making a loud noise which stopped when the door was opened. I emailed Samsung asking for advice and despite the constant emailing all they replied with was a request for serial number, model number, address and date of purchase. When I had sent this information to them a number of times and being ignored, the fridge stopped making the loud noise altogether.
I then looked online for advice and then found a firm called UKan fix it who give advice and sell parts, one being a pack for the back panel defrost kit at £85 + p&p. They also had a video online as to how to take out the old one and put in the new one. Absolutely brilliant. My husband did this last night and it now works. My extreme anger with Samsung is that if they had replied whilst the fridge was still noisy and merely told me to let the fridge defrost completely for a few hours or so I may not even need to have spent that money. Whilst I still have this fridge/freezer I will use the company I used again as they have videos to help with replacement of other parts and won't have the service charges. However, I will NEVER, EVER buy Samsung again, for the poor customer service only. Given that they sell TV's, phones (my daughter has a rubbish Samsung mobile phone).0 -
I have to say I had surprisingly good service from Samsung. My fridge started making the banging noise reported by others which then stopped as soon as you opened the door. 2 days after, the cold water dispenser stopped working just for a few hours. After a day or two the noise stopped so I presumed the problem had stopped. However, a few days later I noticed the food in the fridge wasn't quite as cold as normal although the temp gauge still showed +3. I switched the fridge off and on and the temp now showed +19 !!! And was going up....(maxed at +24!). The freezer worked fine.
I followed the advice on p29 from jin220 and on tuesday dialled the 01932 number. They said there were 6 items (heat sensor, fan etc) which had a design fault and were subject to a free of charge fix. They arranged an engineer who called the same day and fixed an appointment for Friday. He confirmed the problem noise was the fan catching on ice build up, the noise stopped once the fan froze up and hence the fridge got warmer.
All fixed for free, even though out of the 2 yr warranty. If its one of the 6 problem parts they do this as policy. No need to pay for a DiY kit. I would encourage everyone to try the 01932 number first - unfortunately this doesn't seem that widely advertised !0
