Update on RS21. On 10-11-2010, 8:10 PM (see post post number #415 on p21 on this thread) I reported a problem with a noise in my fridge. I won't go into all the details again, however nearly 2 years on and...touch wood... the solution I have listed in my previous posts is still working and my fridge is functioning fine and it only cost me around £35 for the parts. Since this thread has been merged, my other posts seemed to have been deleted explaining exactly how I fixed it...sorry about that, but I followed the instruction given on //reviews.ebay.co.uk/Samsung-RS21-fridge-defrost-repair-problems_W0QQugidZ10000000005678075. Just to end...my RS21 is about 8 years old now and still going strong0

First can I just say a big thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. We bought ours in Sept 2007. Fan noise started a couple of months ago but was intermittent. I defrosted the fridge but it came back. After reading some of the posts on here I decided to give Samsung a call - last monday. Explained situation, even that it was outside the 5 year warranty on that part, but I said that it had been a safety recall that had never been done.
After a bit of humming at harring at their end they said that they would repair it as 'a goodwill gesture'. Engineer has just finished (wednesday) - couldn't be more helpful (Birmingham based 'BSS'). I would urge anyone with this issue to contact Samsung directly.0 -
We bought our Samsung RSH1 in Aug 2007 and it developed the fan noise three years later. Samsung acknowledged there was a fault and said the warranty has been extended by another three years and fixed the fridge.
Out of warranty now, the fridge has developed the same fault and the freezer has stopped working. Everything defrosted and had to be thrown out.
We called 0330 Samsung only to be fobbed off there is nothing there is nothing they can do and refereed us to their approved service centre who is charging a call out fee, part(s) cost and labour. This is not my fault so why should i need to pay.
Again called Samsung and asked to be put through to their complaints department. Spoke to Nkeiru who was not helpful and said there is nothing they can do to help! Asked to speak to her superior, she said they are not there and they would have the same answer as her as they have been given policies to adhere to. I asked if her manager can call me back, said we don't do that.
I asked to complain further and escalate this. She has given me the complaints email address uk.help@samsung.com which I believe isn't going to help and she only gave me that to get me off the phone.
I'm not happy :-( What else can i do?0 -
Problem with Samsung fridge freezer, yes 10 years old but never a problem.
Two great sources of advice and help were:
ANDYof appliancediyrepairs.co.uk, they are Samsung parts sellers. Even though I was not buying from them Andygave his time on three long emails discussing what the problem/s might be. Ashining knight in white goods - thanks Andy! www.appliancediyrepairs.co.uk
and
Damian of DLR Refrigeration at Maidstone in Kent..........
http://www.fridgerepairsmaidstone.co.uk/
Damian is an ex-Samsung man so had all the info of our FF to hand.
He is also well rated on Checkatrade........

Phone Samsung, I have a 7 year old rs21jlat that's been playing up. This model is subject to a free all inclusive repair. Customer services told me the engineer would fit a brand new kit to fix the problem and then do a free service on the rest of the fridge and freezer repairing anything else for free as well! No need to buy any day repair kits just call them. :j0

Thanks to all who contributed - my RSH1 (bought April 2010) started with the helicopter noise last week and fortunately if found this forum and followed the advice. Rang Samsung on the 0330 number, explained, they arranged for BSS from Birmingham to call which they did on Tuesday and returned today (Friday) and fitted the new parts. Excellent service from both Samsung & BSS.0

Unfortunately in Northern Ireland Samsung send their repairs to GMaxx who are the rudest most unhelpful people I have ever come across! the guy asked me why I was phoning him when I was trying to chase up calls, something Samsung should be doing but weren't! I asked him if it was his kitchen floor the freezer was leaking on, he still carried on patronising me! I'm waiting on my 5th engineers visit and gradually losing the will to live. We purchased the freezer 4 years ago but didnt call an engineer out as we worried about the expense, eventually we Googled it and dealt with Samsung direct since.0

Hi guys,
I reckon this is the best place to get a true review on samsung f/f. I've been interested in getting one of these mammoth steel !!!!!s for a year now. I'm close to forking out for one, looking at john lewis right now as they are so good with returns and that sort of thing.
Even with the inherent problems are there better makes on the market?
also, rsg5 or get the proper rsh7. or is it not worth the difference.0 -
I have been having problems with my Samsung RSH1NHMH fridge freezer for over 1 year, i bought the fridge nearly 5 years ago.
The fan kept freezing up and ice kept appearing either side of the evaporator unit in the back of the fridge.
I kept turning the fridge off to defrost the fan then it would kick in (very noisy). Finally the fridge stopped working all together so i called samsung 2 weeks ago (0330 7267864). They asked for the model number which is in the fridge on the left hand side. They told me that the model i have has a recognised fault and they would send an engineer out free of charge.
They have replaced the fan and evaporator unit with a modification kit free of charge. Which should now stop the fan and fridge from freezing up. It seems to be working well and I don't have any noise coming from the machine now either0 -
My freezer has now been written off, I phoned Consumerline who were fantastically helpful. If you have had an engineer out and then hear or see anything happening again call them back. The engineers are allowed to do six different things to try and fix the problem if it doesnt work then they write it off. Samsung then calculate depreciation at 5% for every 3 months, as I've had mine since 2008 it looks like I owe them money!!! Anyway the responsibility ultimately lies with the retailer, in my case Dixons. I'm waiting on a response from them. Your Sale of Goods Act only covers you for six years. Samsung are beyond useless in this situation they have washed their hands of the lot, after free engineers visits they want nothing to do with you. If I receive any compensation from them it probably wont even cover the money I've paid out in phone bills, waiting in, lost food and putting letters together!! I asked them who is liable if the freezer goes on fire or if someone slips on the water and they told me as the freezer has been written off if I don't turn the freezer off I am liable!!!
Its unreal how Samsung can make a product, admit its not right then leave it at that!0
