  • After 2 years Samsung have decided to fix my RSH 1 DTMH Freezer. A top bloke from DR Refrigeration of Chester called today and fitted, wait for it........... two new fans/evaporator covers , two new defrost heaters, new defrost sensor, new design water tank. every thing working correctly now. It took a while but we got there in the end. Thank you Samsung and DR

Simon_h - why didn't you get Samsung to repair it for free?

Possibly because Simon H is from Appliance DIY Repairs?

I venture this because he's delighted to have shelled out £122.99 when the majority of people on here have had issues fixed for free.

And the person he thanks in comment number 586 has strikingly similar initials as him!
  • My RS21 F/F was decommissioned by Samsung engineer in August 2011. I did not accept a small depreciation value. Till now have been arguing my case with Samsung writing many letters. Now Samsung is offering me a replacement model RSA1RTMG with 2yrs warranty.
Has any body got any issue with this model before I accept the offer? Samsung is currently not offering any compensation for the spoiled food, expenses for phone/letters and inconvinence.

Having had three repairs in three years, and the unit appears to be malfunctioning again, Samsung is replacing the fridge freezer. Delivery 23 Feb (could have been 16 but not convenient for me).

I have lost money because of perished food (too much hassle to claim this sort of stuff); however, I am happy with the service from Samsung. My replacement is RSH1DB - I have no idea what this is like so shall wait and see.

Your experience seems to be vastly different from mine. I found Samsung very helpful. I don't know what this model is like but as you can see above, I had a problem with my replacement but it has been fixed.

Re compensation, you asked for £250 but you note in a post £100 worth of spoilt food. You could have looked at claiming this through your house insurance as Samsung refused.

I didn't have any hassle when I asked Samsung for compensation and accepted £50 in supermarket vouchers from them.

    Good luck
  • We've had numerous problems with our fridge freezer and even though they've done every repair possible it still forms ice, Samsung has made us a compensation off of £400 but they take the fridge freezer back for that.

The engineer showed us how to clear the ice and advised doing this every few months, to be honest I could live with that and happy to keep the fridge as can't get a decent american style for £400 other than a Samsung.

So my question is has anyone ever managed to reject the offer and ask for a compensation offer based on inconvenience and kept the item?

See some of my earlier posts; I had a replacement fridge freezer and was happy with that.

Well the executive office have told me I can have £400 compensation and they'll take the fridge but they wont budge on replacing or giving me less compensation and letting me keep it :(

Evening all, 1st thanks to everyone who replies on here as it does help matters if you have got problems.

Bought a Samsung RSH1NBBP 2 1/2 years ago. All was fine until 4 days ago im getting this loud noise ( that everyone reports on here ) and the noise goes once you close the door.

Local Engineer who i called on Saturday knew all about Samsungs problems with these freezers and said he has fixed alot. I asked him how much and he replied ' I fixed a womans last week which was really bad and we charged £99 standard fee, then rest of parts took it upto £200'' He told me mine would be that max, but expected it to be less.

Then i read on here alot of people have managed to get Samsung to do it for free and used this Goods And Service Act aswell.

Just wondering has anyone got the same model as me and had problems and if its been out of Warranty have they had the repairs done for free. Is it one of the 6 which have problems and they will come out free of charge and repair it.

    Thanks to anyone who replies.
 5 account to clear- £14580.47/£1074.90- 7.3% paid off
debt free nov 2012 before that I hope

I have posted several times on thsi forum explaining what happened with my Samsung (2 in fact).

I had the original one replaced because of this standard problem. The replacement was RSH1DB. The second one developed a similar problem although out of so called 'guarantee'. To be fair, i didn't have to quote sale of goods act or anything. Samsung customer services were very helpful (I did not contact any local dealer/repair company but rang Samsung HQ direct). I was curteous and so were they.

So katie2407, my advice would be to ring Samsung to explain what's happened but avoid going in all guns blazing and issuing threats (not saying you would but I suspect some people may have). Good Luck!
  • Yes, I managed to get my repairs done from Samsung with no problems, they did advise me there might be a charge but I was never charged for 3 different visits. The engineer did tell me he sees about 3 or 4 with this fault a day!

Still stuck with Samsung as they've told me the offer is the final offer they will make, spoke to consumer advice and gone back to them one last time before I decide whether to claim from my credit card company instead.
