    Hi,

Our fridge/freezer is about 5/6 years old and 5 days ago the freezer part started playing up...
It now doesn't go down less than -13C so we have had to throw food away...
We have tried turning it off for 4 hours to reset it as suggested by Samsung when I emailed them but it didn't change anything appart from making the freezer go up to -4C!
Changing the settings on the lcd screen doesn't change anything and the lcd screen fluctuates from -20 to -13 to -9 and then go up/down again...although I have put a thermometer inside the freezer and the temperature is nearly always around -13C.
We have also vaccummed the dust at the back of the unit but it hasn't changed a thing either.

The fridge part works perfectly fine.

I haven't looked at all the pages of this thread so was wondering if there is anything we could do or if anyone has had the same problem?

    Thanks a lot :-)

Although only half way through this we had the same problem noise, door opening it stopped, no noise at all, freezer heating up. We phoned Samsung on 01932 454358, when I said that Samsung had extended their warrenty on the fans on these I was told that was not true but they would "carry out complimentary repairs" on the six items already listed. At the moment waiting for an engineer to phone, we shall see!!!!!

I had mine replaced on the agreed date and the old one was taken away. I realise that some customers are cross and frustrated but whilst I was inconvenienced with all the breakdowns and repairs, I am happy with Samsung's customer service.

3 July 2012 I phoned Samsumg to report a problem with the replacement fridge freezer - same noise as original. As it was mre than 12 months (replacement received 23 Feb 10) I was told that ' as a good will gesture' they would repair if it was the same problem. i didn't pursue sale of goods/faulty item at this point and that purchase date was within scope) but agreed to engineer to call.

Received phonecall from engineer within 24 hours and visit arranged for 11 July (by which time a lot of food had spoilt as although temperature was showing as correct on display, it was not correct.

Engineer came, part replaced (same sort of thing although engineer said it was a different fault to original but still needed a modification). No charge.

    Working now. Fingers crossed.

jb007uk - re your query about 5 years, I think the warranty was extended so contact them. Given all the issues I'm sure they will sort it. As said previoulsy, I have found Samsung's customer service to be great
  • I contacted Samsung on 01932 454358 and spoke to a nice lady in Cairo.
I informed her that my Samsung FF RSH1NBRS (1/XUE) purchased in 2009 had the following faults:-
    1) intermittent noise fault
    2) intermittent cooling fault

Straight away the lady told me that the Fridge-Freezer warantee had been extended by another 3 years by samsung and that they would have a engineer contact me within 24 hours and arrange a repair date within 7 days.
I have found Samsung's customer services to be good so far.

Same here. Noisy fridge which stops when you open the door, but ours is a 7 year old model - well out of warranty.

I called the Samsung number and was told that they have a 'home care' policy and seeing as it is the first time we have called an engineer, we'll get a visit soon - for free and all parts will be free.

If Samsung had a poor reputation before, it doesn't now. You couldn't ask for any more. :)

I have this model for almost 8 yrs and have had the back panel replaced TWICE before this weekend when it packed up again for the third time. It was fixed FOC after 2 yrs as it was still in warranty and then again 3 yrs ago when it came under the free Samsung recall. I insisted that they replace everything that could be replaced. And in fairness they did. However it started with the helicopter noise during the week and it packed in last night. I felt like crying. But I chanced upon this site and found the post by GFB from July 2007(page 3, post 53 on this forum). I printed it out, invited my extended family to eat all the defrosted food and got the men to follow the instructions. My husband is not into DIY but by God I was all set to do it on my own tomorrow. Anyway the fridge is working and I am so pleased. I can't get over how GFB had the time, inclination and generosity to write such detailed instructions. Fair play to you GFB - you've saved me a packet! Big hugs to you if you're still on this forum! xxx:beer::j
  • When our Samsung started going wrong it started making sounds like a cross between a descending helicopter and the Tardis.

Then the fridge side warmed up. Then the freezer side warmed up. Both to around 15C. Ugh.

It was blazing hot outside, and the milk and the food and the kitchen all got a bit whiffy rather quickly.

Thank god for this forum and user SJH42 - comment number 586.

I ordered the part at the weekend, I was emailed to say they got the order on Saturday, emailed to say it had despatched on Monday, and it arrived on Tuesday. Fantastic customer service.

Luckily I had unplugged the fridge and left it to defrost all weekend, ready for the replacement parts. I think if I hadn't done this, it would have been a bit of a nightmare dealing with the ice that would have been lurking under the panels.

The instructions were well written and informative. It was easy to figure out what to do, and I had everything repaired within an hour, only needing a screwdriver and pliers. Fantastic!

The fridge was back to her old self within a few hours - -20C in the freezer and 4 in the fridge, and now it's a week later and she's purring happier than ever before. - we are all very, very happy with the service.

What a fantastic result - Thankyou, Appliance DIY Repairs!
