Sony 40EX403 is £649.99 in Argos.

Then they're offering an additional £50 reduction (without having to trade in your old TV): http://www.argos.co.uk/static/ArgosPromo3/includeName/sonyvoucheroffer.htm&!!!!!ar:cat:hesn:tvs:main2

and then you get a £50 argos voucher (" Your Argos voucher will be delivered approximately 14 days after your appliance is delivered.")

so £550 in all if you include the argos voucher

Tesco and John Lewis have both increased their prices by £50 for the 40EX403 to £699. Tesco did it yesterday, and JL did it as I was browsing this morning.
  • Just spotted that Tec7 (a concession selling in House of Fraser) are also doing the trade-in and are offering a FREE 5 YEAR WARRANTY aswell!

I'm looking at buying the 32EX403 which they have at £549.99 normally and are now doing a double trade-in deal, knocking off £100 instead of £50, making the TV just £449.99 with the 5 year warranty!

The one in Hull even showed me a little 5" black & white TV they accepted as trade-in. :)

Am I the only person who suspects sony is doing this trade in to meet some sort of environmental target companies have?

They can go "look, we've recycled all these TVs :D aren't we fab!" and get money for it?

Or perhaps strip down the TVs and sell the raw materials? There must be a good amount of copper in those old CRTs.

Is Sony the only brand offering a trade-in on televisons?

    Thanks.
  • I just bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 from Tesco Home store in Southampton centre and it’s great- they had 15 in stock as of yesterday!

Indeed, the guy told me that they recycle the old TVs and make good money from doing so.

Hi. @CactusFunk, Where did you find out about this double trade in offer? Just rang up the Birmingham branch and they are only offering the trade (£50 off).

Hi, sorry if this is totally inappropriate posting, but does anyone know how these Bravia's compare to the Series 6 Samsung LCDs? I've been trying to decide which manufacturer to go for and Samsung seems to be leading most comparison sites. I'm thinking of getting the LE40B650. Thanks for any advice

Every sony TV being made right now is a Bravia. The two TVs are very similar - 1080p, 50hz, Bravia Engine 3.

The differences are the same as those I listed above for the EX503 and the W5810.

If you have a satellite dish, the V5810 might be better, but if you're likely to use the online options and will use freeview HD, I'd get the EX403.

This particular set will not be connected to satellite or cable so will probably just go for whichever is the best deal.

Can anyone confirm whether I can purchase through www.topcashback to get a further 5% off? Hopefully I can purchase online and follow-up with a call to M&S or whoever to ask about collecting the old set.
  • I just bought the KDL 32W5810 freesat 32" from M&S from Sprucefield and got the £100 trade in! When I rang I was told that it was only £50 but if you go to the sony website all Freesat tv's get £100 for a trade in so when I went to the store (with my 15 year old portable) and told them about the sony website the nice man said no problem and that not all staff were aware of all the offers. So I got the Tv for £399 with a 5 year warranty = bargain!
