went into the store last weekend, just to check out any bargins
was looking for a bigger telly, the guy behind the counter actually recommended this offer, due to the "£100" trade in offer,I thought £399 for a Sony 32" Freesat HD LCD TV was a bargin

the TV was on display in the store clearly labelled up with a label promoting "£100" trade in on that specific model

the guy also pointed out we could bring in any size tv, was wondering if I could bring in a 4" pocket TC (thought that might be a bit to cheeky though) what does the guy tell us today, only that someone had bought in a pocket sized TV

could you get your M&S to phoned Liverpool to query this, unless this £100 offer is specific to M&S Liverpool
can anyone else confirm if any other M&S stores have got the Sony 32W5810 with £100 trade in offer (priced @ £499 instore, then trade in £100 off)

We have just bought our Sony tv from the Sony shop because
John Lewis would not price match, despite the Sony shop
    being opposite the store.

we got the KDL 40EX503U 40" FOR £649 inc £100 trade in
and a free 5 year guarantee
the same set in JL is currently £849 with trade in £749

Both stores will take any tv regardless of size or condition
just as well as ours packed in last week

Cardiff M & S are only offering £50.00 trade in, so price paid would be £449.00.

As previously mentioned i phoned John Lewis to price match at £449 and they guy said oh there's £100 trade in on that model, that will be £399 to pay madam:T

Thank-you to all for highlighting the Sony trade in offer. Bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40V5810U 40" with built in freesat HD yesterday from M&S at the Metrocentre, Gateshead. Only cost £499 after trading in my old 14" portable. All this with a 5 year guarantee to boot.

If anyone is after a slightly cheaper option, Tesco are doing a 40"LCD 1080p Technika TV for £399. Although you may question the brand it does come with a free 3 year warranty. You can also get 3% cashback via TopCashBack if you order online. They also do a 40" LED for £699 - again with a 3 year warranty. I was tempted, but am a Sony fan!!

Is that "wouldn't match the price on the spot" or flat out wouldn't match at all ever?

Does M&S have a price promise? I'm looking at the Sony KDL-40EX403U, but its £749, compared to John Lewis/Tesco at £649.

If you can get it from JL or Tesco, do so, because they both run the sony promo...

    To clarify for everybody:

The trade-in is against any CURRENT sony model, so EX, HX, LX and NX range sets, 32" and above.

    £50 for 32 - 37, £100 for 40" and £150 off when buying 46"+.

The only exception to this rule is the Freesat series, which start at 32" with the model no. w5810. These are last year's models but you get £100 off regardless of size.

Spec wise, they're nearly identical to this year's EX503 series, meaning Bravia engine 3, 100hz refresh rate and DLNA compatability.

The only difference is that they don't have access to the enhanced online functions of the EX series, and have a freesat HD tuner rather than freeview HD. If you use sky or virgin and won't plug the TV into the internet, they're by far the best buy at the moment.

And yes, you can trade in ANY tv. It doesn't even have to work.

I don't know about that particular model but I bought my son a 22" Technica a few months ago. It is true HD (1080p) and the picture and sound quality are superb for such a cheap telly. His PS3 works fantastic in HD on it.

they would not match in-store and when I rang in to ask
they took the details and range back the next day
and would not match despite checking the price
    with the Sony shop.

So it would seem that they are sometimes
Knowingly undersold, disappointed about this as a life long shopper
never would have got treated like this when it was Lee`s and
in the old shop,so different these days my OH was more upset
because the women dealing with him was so aggressive and off hand.

    Advice?

    I only need a 32" TV. Looking at KD32EX403U or KDL32W5810.

One is FreeSat one is Freeview HD - whats the diff?? I dont have a FreeSat dish.

What is the deal on the frame rate 50Hz v 100Hz?

With the Sony Trade-In diff on John Lewis is £50..

    Thanks!
