I only need a 32" TV. Looking at KD32EX403U or KDL32W5810.
One is FreeSat one is Freeview HD - whats the diff?? I dont have a FreeSat dish.
What is the deal on the frame rate 50Hz v 100Hz?
With the Sony Trade-In diff on John Lewis is £50..
Thanks!
Freeview HD is the SAME as freeview, but with the addition of ITV, BBC and C4 HD (assuming it;s available in your area).
Free SAT is available through a dish and has BBC and ITV HD, but not C4 HD. You can, however, receive Iplayer through freesat.
The refresh rate affects how the TV handles movement, so you get a better picture with the 5810, but if you only watch freeview, you may find that you get more enjoyment out of the EX403.
You'll get £50 off if you go with the EX403 or £100 if you go for the 5810. a freeview HD box to add to the 5810 would be about £150.0 -

they would not match in-store and when I rang in to ask
they took the details and range back the next day
and would not match despite checking the price
with the Sony shop.
So it would seem that they are sometimes
Knowingly undersold, disappointed about this as a life long shopper
never would have got treated like this when it was Lee`s and
in the old shop,so different these days my OH was more upset
because the women dealing with him was so aggressive and off hand.
That's odd. The only time they don't match usually is if the item is a different model no, out of stock (either at JL or at competitor), or not advertised at stated price (i.e. currys advertises TV for £500 but if you want to buy it with XY and Z they'll do it informally for £480).0 -

I had a look at the Sony Bravia 40'' in Currys and was surprised at how fuzzy the picture appeared compared to other surrounding models. Anyone else have a view on the picture/sound quality of this model?
This could be cause just by a dodgy feed used instore to demonstrate products. i work for Currys and some tv's look absolutely pristine, others a little muffled. Just because of our feed.
Please dont be put off this, I'm sure it will be fine when you try it at home0 -
1) Trade in in store yes, I've been in today and got £100 off for a 14" TV
2) instore only, not online (therefore no quidco)
the guy in M&S told us today someone bought in a little pocket TV and still got the £100 off
the beauty of the M&S trade in is you get £100 no matter what size telly you bring in
Same as Currys..You can use ANY tv, working or not. Oh and you can use Topcashback for both too, aswell as M&S0 -
Hi just brought the sony KDL 32EX403 from sony centre store £449 this included a nice black glass stand, come free when you buy the tv. Plus 5 years guarantee.
Price of tv £549 minus £50 trade in minus another £50 price match M&S.
The very nice man in the shop said that EX403 was a newer model than the W5810.
I picked up a leaflet instore which they have the W5810 £599 minus £100 = £499 includes free satellite dish installation.Pay £7,500 in 2011 paid £29,325 No 43 OP £21,825
Olympic 78= £20,000 paid £35,708 over paid £15,708
Mortgage over payment £1996/£1497 paid in 2011
sealed pot 4 number 845
Weight Loss 29lbs/13lbs0 -
Everyone...in case you don't know, Panasonic are doing some cracking deals too. My wife and I just bought a brand new 'just out, new model' Plasma 37" (the TX-P37X20B) with a £50 trade in and free 5 year warranty from our local independent store. We paid £545 for a tv listed at £745 when first released. We did find it cheaper but without the 5yr warranty (normally £230 for a Panasonic warranty). I believe you may get £100 trade in at some dealers according to the grapevine. The cost of the set varies even though it was only released onto the market a few weeks ago. And by the way, it's a fantastic TV in every respect. It's 'only' HD ready but being Plasma, benefits from not only the latest long life panels (100,000+ hour life) but as near to instant pixel response as you can get (0.001msecs), 2,000,000: 1 contrast ratio so blacks are very black with everything you would expect inbetween, 100hz refresh rate (frames per second) so it's got the lot, no picture judder.. Only uses 115watts of power...less than most LCD sets. Picture is stunning. with absolutely BRILLIANT SOUND, easily beating most other flat panel tv's. Take a look!0

Very pleased with my KDL40V5810 (£499 ordered from M+S Lisburn, inclusive of 5 years warranty and free home delivery + set up)
So i also used SONY trade-in (£30) to get a DAV-DZ280 DVD Home Cinema System for £140 from a local retailer.
Have also seen on Dixons website for £145 inclusive of free delivery for those interested in a sound upgrade.....
Thanks for the tip0 -
Sorry if this has already been discussed but is the non-Bravia 40EX403 better than the 40V5810U?
I'm planning on buying the 40V5810U from M&S (if they'll collect my heavy 28" CRT trade in) and thought the Bravias were supposed to be better?
Any disadvantages with this model?
Will I be able to purchase through topcashback for another 5% off?
Thanks.0 -

Every sony TV being made right now is a Bravia. The two TVs are very similar - 1080p, 50hz, Bravia Engine 3.
The differences are the same as those I listed above for the EX503 and the W5810.
If you have a satellite dish, the V5810 might be better, but if you're likely to use the online options and will use freeview HD, I'd get the EX403.0
